The first working title the film company chose to use was the universal logo. They may have chosen to put this one first as it relates the film to a well trusted production and investment company. It may suggest to the audience that it is a high budgeted film made by a company with an understanding of how to make a production that will be liked by a large scale audience. By using a company as profound in the movie industry as universal the company may have chosen to put this title first to suggest that a trusted company are involved. Making people feel more confident about the film from the start

By using studio canal as a second working title it suggests that the film has worked with more independent company and are making an effort to bring smaller British companies more influence in the mainstream film market.

The first images we see in the extract is a range of medium and long shots that track people walking out to the pick ups section of an airport. Using these types of shots suggest your seeing love from your own point of view. This therefore connotes a sense that love is always around and that if you search for it, you can find it everywhere you look. It also relates back to the title, which is love actually as

It suggests that love is something real that can be seen in all parts of the world, and it sets up the rest of the film plot, as it revolves around different peoples way of showing love within the world.

A low key non diegetic has been used in the piece, I believe using such a slow paced and quiet sound track is again a connotation of love as it suggests the silent anticipation and excitement of being reunited with somebody you love. The idea of using a white font for the company titles in the shots may have been to make them stand out from the shot in the foreground. They bring the attention to the front of the shot and make the company more predominant. They have chosen this because it is the best possible way to promote and share the companies. The transitions they chose to use for the entrance and exit

faded slowly within the shot meaning that although they are a main focus in the shot, they fade in and out of the shot in a way that the foreground can also be seen, and the attention can cross between the two.

Whilst still showing shots of people walking out of an airport arrivals gate, a voiceover begins, the low key music still plays but is easily overpowered by his voice. He speaks of love, which again suggests the theme of the film from the very beginning and helps the audience to form there own feelings and opinions on the idea of love before the main action begins. This is done through the slow pace of shot editing and the way the voiceover speaks his own views on love. By making the audience create there own opinions on love it means that they will easily be able to relate to characters that behave similar to the way they behave themselves and means they will become more invested in the story, and better enjoy it. The title of the film then appears at the bottom of the screen, but as part of a quote, by having the ‘is’ in red compared to the rest means that it is meant to be a main focus in the speech. The audiences eye would be caught and it would be used as a way of intriguing the audience about the meaning of the films title.

The shot then fades to black and the rest of the quote fades with it. Leaving just the title of the film. This could be a signal to the audience that the film is about to begin and implies that the characters they will see after this are the main focus of the entire film.
