Where does it go? Everything that we do outdoors has an effect on the water bodies around us. As water flows it collects all of the pollutants that are left in its path. It then travels to the nearest storm drain where it is carried to the nearest lake, river or stream. Let’s make sure “Only rain goes down the drain!”
Each year at the beginning of March, school children kick off National Reading Month by celebrating the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss. Teachers design contests, family literacy events, and even pajama & pillow days to provide cozy
mornings of uninterrupted reading. In Sylvania, we are grateful to have 2 excellent public libraries and great resources in our schools. We encourage our kids and students to read every day of the year!

In the past we published the Country Journal newsletter and we are now expanding the information from the Journal into this monthly calendar of dates and activities.
Besides our refuse and recycling schedules, other community dates and events are listed as well as beautiful pictures showing all Sylvania has to offer. Sylvania is a great place to live, work and raise a family with so much to offer. We hope this calendar helps you find out more about Sylvania and enjoy our community year round!
The calendar can also be found on the City’s website at www.cityofsylvania.com. I want to thank our sponsors; Promedica Flower Hospital, Reeb Funeral Home, Dave White Chevrolet and Republic Service who have helped make this calendar possible.
