1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing ProHD LoupeCam®. Designed from the ground up with
ease-of-use in mind, this high definition video camera will take you to a levelof simplicity and portability never achieved before.
We suggest that you take a few minutes to consult this manual before you
utilize your ProHD LoupeCam®. By doing so, you will reap the full benefits of
what your digital camera has to offer.
1.1. The ProHD LoupeCam ® Calibrat ion
The ProHD LoupeCam® System is a digital and high definition video device
which digitally acquires video data, compresses it and transfers it to your
computer in its digital form over the USB 2.0 standard.
The lens of your ProHD Camera System can easily accommodate differentworking distances but is currently set up for use at about 16” (40cm) of focal
distance.
To operate the camera from a different distance, some minor adjustments
are required:
1. It is recommended that you use a target against a wall with a small
print e.g. a business card.
2.
Determine the appropriate working distance you are trying to
calibrate your camera to. As an example, if your surgical/dental
loupes are calibrated at 20” (50cm), put the camera at that distance
(preferably on a table) and point toward your target.
3. Simply loosen the lens lock ring (metal counter screw) that holds the
lens in its position, and start unscrewing/screwing the lens until you
reach a clear focus on your target.
4. Lock the metal ring so that the lens keeps its position.
*NOTE please refer to the tutorial video entitled “Chapter 3 – SoftwareCalibration” for more information.

1.2. Various Lenses & Field o f View
The ProHD LoupeCam® system is lens swappable and allows for calibration
adjustments of various working distances.
Provides divergent fields of view.
Closely matches or exceeds current loupe magnifying
Glasses.
2x Lens: At 16"/40cm, the Field of View is approx. 3.5" x 5"/8 cm x 12 cm
3x Lens: At 16"/40cm, the Field of View is approx. 2.5" x 4"/6 cm x 10 cm
4x Lens: At 16"/40cm, the Field of View of approx. 1.5" x 2.5"/3cm x 12cm
Special Order Lenses:
1.5x Lens: At 16"/40cm, the Field of View is approx. 8"x5"/20cm x 12cm
1x Lens: At 16"/40cm, the Field of View is approx. 18"x 10"/45cm x 25cm
You can purchase these additional optional lenses by contacting your
LoupeCam® By VizVocus Inc. representative or consult our website:
www.LoupeCam.com.
The digital camera requires good lighting conditions to
perform optimal quality video and images. The camera
does not perform well in less illuminated conditions. The
use of additional light is recommended.

1.3. USB Foot Pedals
Optional USB Foot pedals are available to remotely operate the camera
recording functions without requiring external aid. The USB foot pedals are
pre-programmed, and work in conjunction with Apple QuickTime and the
software “LoupeCam® Settings”. The USB foot pedals will not perform with
any other software program that is not associated with Apple QuickTime or
ProHD LoupeCam®.
1.4. Steri l ization & Protec tion
The ProHD LoupeCam® cannot be sterilized. It is designed for usage in a non-
sterilized zone. When used with a head-mounted adaptor, or surgical/dental
loupes adapter, the camera is located in a non-sterile area.
Ensure that the lens is securely tightened to the camera
and that it will not come loose or fall during the
intervention. Hand tightening only, using a tool will most
likely damage the lens.
Do not operate camera at extreme temperatures. Normal
operating temperatures are between 59oF (15oC) and 77oF
(25oC).
Do not let the camera or any of its components near a
child to avoid any risk of suffocation.
For external use only. Always keep the recommended
distance between the camera and the sterilized zone.
DO NOT STERILIZE THE CAMERA. Attempting to sterilizethe camera or any other part will most likely damage it and
void your warranty. Avoid any contact with water. Do not
submerge under water.

3.3. In terface Overv iew
3.3.1. Exposure
The most important parameter is
"Exposure," located in the "Adjustments"
tab: it will control the luminosity of your
videos. The lower the value, the darker the
image will be. Uncheck the “Auto” box, in
order to manage Exposure settings.
When you move the slider, verify how your
image adjusts depending on the “Exposure”
value.
It is recommended to test both, the Exposure in “Auto” mode and “Manual”
to determine which one offers the best image given your clinical setting.

3.3.2. Brightness & Color Depth
You can adjust the brightness and color depth in the second tab entitled:
"Adjustments."
While there are several options available, we recommend adjusting
Exposure and White Balance only to calibrate your setup.
To modify, move the switch from Auto to Manual. You can verify how
your image will be modified depending on the values you select.
When you close the application, all of your settings are saved on the camera,
so you will not have to reconfigure everything each time you use it.
- Close ProHD Capture properly: File-> exit or red cross on the top
right corner of the window
- While the software is stopping, you’ll see the red light blinking on
the camera: all the settings are being saved.- Unplug the camera
