For us men and for our salva-tion he came down from heaven, and by the Ho-ly Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. This Monday, September 7, is Labor Day and the official end of Summer 2020. So there will be a holiday schedule at St. Charles. There will be

one daily Mass, at 8:30am. The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, so if you need anything from the Office, please stop after Mass today. The Office is open until 5:00pm on Saturday and until 1:00pm on Sunday.

Just a few reminders: The 7:00am daily Mass returns to our schedule this

Tuesday, September 8. So there will now be a 7:00am Mass on Monday thru Friday in addition to the current 7:00pm Mass.

There will be an 8:30am daily Mass every Friday, September thru May.

Effective Tuesday, September 8, Parish Office hours will be: Sunday, 8:00am to 1:00pm; Saturday, 8:00am to 5:00pm; Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm.

It has been my practice, since I became pastor of St. Charles in 1987, to provide an annual “State of the Parish” report on the second Sunday of September. Next week, in the parish bulletin, you will find an insert detailing the financial receipts and expenses, the status of our three invested funds, and an overview of parish statistics for the period July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

St. Charles Finance Council will meet this Thursday, September 10, 7:45pm in the Lower Parish Hall. Face mask and social distancing guidelines will be observed. The annual statement will be e-mailed to you for your prior review.

As of today, it is official: we will “livestream” the 10:00am Sunday Mass from our church. That Mass can also be accessed later in the day.

We further plan to offer the 7:00am daily Mass both in a livestream format as well as recorded for access at a later time convenient for you. This will replace the 11:00am Mass currently offered daily from the “rectory studio.”

We all continue to “soldier on” as we deal with the pandemic. Our usual schedules have been upended as we “stay safe by staying in place.” Last spring, with additional time on my hands, I gave my office a thorough cleaning: I went through all the files, drawers, boxes, etc. and tossed out stuff I should have discarded years ago,

Now I’m heading for my clothes closet, thanks to the upcoming St. Charles PTU Clothing Drive scheduled for Saturday, September 19 (two weeks away) from 9:00am until 12:00Noon.

When it comes to clothing of any kind, the PTU will take it, from hats to shoes and everything in between. Check the article in this bulletin for details and get busy going through those dressers, trunks, closets, etc.

Let me put in a plug for our Gift Card Program. We are “back in business” with gift cards for a variety of stores and services. As expected, we “took a hit” during the shutdown and we would like to make up for lost ground.. Stop by the Parish Office after Mass, during the week, or on your way to the store. If everyone did their grocery shopping and purchased their gasoline with our gift cards, we would be in great shape. We carry grocery gift cards for Acme, Aldi, Chuppa’s, Giant Eagle, Gordon’s, Heinen’s and Marc’s. And we have gasoline gift cards for BP, Marathon, Sheetz, Shell, Speedway, and Sunoco. Those few cents we make on every dollar really add up. Please purchase and use St. Charles gift cards! Proceeds benefit kids’ education.

one daily Mass, at 8:30am. The Parish Office will be closedon Monday, so if you need anything from the Office, please stop after Mass today. The Office is open until 5:00pm onSaturday and until 1:00pm on Sunday.

Tuesday, September 8. So there will now be a 7:00am Masson Monday thru Friday in addition to the current 7:00pm Mass.

It has been my practice, since I became pastor of St. Charles in 1987, to provide an annual “State of the Parish” report on the second Sunday of September. Next week, in the parish bulletin, you will find an insert detailingthe financial receipts and expenses, the status of our threeinvested funds, and an overview of parish statistics for the period July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

St. Charles Finance Council will meet this Thursday,September 10, 7:45pm in the Lower Parish Hall. Face mask and social distancing guidelines will be observed. The annual statement will be e-mailed to you for your prior review.

As of today, it is official: we will “livestream” the 10:00am Sunday Mass from our church. That Mass can alsobe accessed later in the day.

We further plan to offer the 7:00am daily Mass both in alivestream format as well as recorded for access at a later time convenient for you. This will replace the 11:00am Masscurrently offered daily from the “rectory studio.”

We all continue to “soldier on” as we deal with thepandemic. Our usual schedules have been upended as we“stay safe by staying in place.” Last spring, with additional time on my hands, I gave my office a thorough cleaning:I went through all the files, drawers, boxes, etc. and tossedout stuff I should have discarded years ago,

Now I’m heading for my clothes closet, thanks to theupcoming St. Charles PTU Clothing Drive scheduled forSaturday, September 19 (two weeks away) from 9:00am until12:00Noon.

When it comes to clothing of any kind, the PTU will takeit, from hats to shoes and everything in between. Check the article in this bulletin for details and get busy going throughthose dressers, trunks, closets, etc.

Let me put in a plug for our Gift Card Program. We are “back in business” with gift cards for a variety of stores andservices. As expected, we “took a hit” during the shutdownand we would like to make up for lost ground.. Stop by theParish Office after Mass, during the week, or on your way tothe store. If everyone did their grocery shopping andpurchased their gasoline with our gift cards, we would be ingreat shape. Each week, each player has four teams with a new set of teams each week. A total of $2,500.00 in prizes are awarded weekly to the ticket holders with the four teams that score the most - or the least - num-ber of points in that given week of games. Every year, we gather for the 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic, as with all other diocesan events, has greatly disrupted our plans. At this time, bringing together couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary is not possible. However, we do not want the year to pass by without marking this very special occasion.

To honor all couples married in 1970, we would like to send a diocesan certificate as a keepsake. CYRENIAN MINISTRY Volunteers Needed to Make Sandwiches

The Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Ministry is starting up again and we need your help. Many local organizations distribute food and sandwiches daily to people in need and the demand is great. Join us to make sandwiches on Thursday, September 17th at 6:00pm.

2ND ANNUAL CLEVELAND CATHOLIC WOMEN’S CONFERENCE

All women are invited to attend this one-day event for adult women who wish to learn and pray as they grow deeper in their faith. Inspired by St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the theme of this year’s conference is “Simply Holy: Living God’s Will in All Things.”

The day will begin with a live-streamed Mass at Saints Cosmas & Damian in Twinsburg. Speakers throughout the day include Debbie Georgianni, co-host of EWTN Radio’s “Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie,” Mother Gabriella of Christ the Bridegroom Monastery, and veteran broadcaster and host of “Good Things Radio,” Brooke Taylor. Singer/songwriter Taylor Tripodi will share her musical gifts during our praise and worship time during live-streamed Adoration.
