Getting here: By Car: Loudwater is located on the Burway Trading Estate, just off Bromfield Road, behind Ludlow Motors. Look for our grey and pink sign, turn in by the red barriers and follow the road, you will see our distinctive 16A in front of you. By Train: The Studio is an
approximate 10 minute walk from Ludlow train station. By Bus: The Ludlow Town and Park and Ride Services both serve Ludlow Train Station which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Studio. The 435 Ludlow to Shrewsbury bus service will stop in Bromfield Road, which is an approximate 5 minute walk from Loudwater. On Foot: Loudwater can be reached on foot, and is situated an approximate 15 minute walk from Ludlow Town Centre.

Welcome to Loudwater’s creative workshop programme for the next 6 months. We have a number of exciting courses and regular activity sessions to inspire your creativity. All our courses include materials (unless otherwise stated) and light refreshments. For full-day courses we do ask that you provide a packed lunch. It’s All about the Heart

We know they all love their electronic games and apps but let’s take them back to the years when they didn’t exist and get them creative. Running every Wednesday during the school holidays between 1.00 and 3.30pm each session will be unique covering different types of creative fun. From ceramics to textiles there’s lots of fun to be had. £10 per child ages 7-12(discounts available for families with more than 1 child).

The Art of Calligraphy
Date: 24 January 23 October Time: 10.00am-2.30pm Price: £45.00 ____________________
Learn the Art of Calligraphy with Shropshire Scribes. Beginning with using felt pens to learn the Foundational alphabet, we'll then move on to dip pens and ink to create your own piece of calligraphy or bookmark. All materials are included for the workshop and we'll supply you with a small starter pack to help you in developing your new skill at home.
Natural History Illustration
Frequency: Every 3 weeks Start: 9 January Time: 10am-1.00pm Price: £15.00 _______________________ Have fun drawing and painting the natural world with Katy Alston! These sessions will teach you to make accurate and confident drawings and paintings of natural history subjects, but we will also experiment with their use in all aspects of illustration including book making, zine making, journaling, printmaking, collage and working using from naturally available materials. Sculpting Otters

Join us for a day and sculpt your very own Ludlow Otter with Stella. This gentle introduction to working in clay, will give you all the skills to develop confidence in working in three dimensions. Using basic slab techniques you will be shown how to construct your sculpture, adding detail to your work to capture the character of the subject. All materials, tools, tea and coffee will be provided and the cost of firing your piece of work, which can be collected at a later date. Please bring a packed lunch. Pinch Pot Birds
Date: 21 February Time: 10.00am-2.30pm Price: £45.00 _____________________ We’re celebrating National Nest box Week by dedicating a week to crafting birds, so why not join us for this flighty workshop. Starting with a ball of clay we will show you how to make simple pinch pots that can then be turned into a bird to take home. Use them to simply decorate your home or turn them into cane toppers for your garden, whatever you decide they’re sure to be a unique beautiful addition. Log Cabin Quilting
Date: 20 March Time: 10.00am-2.30pm Price: £45.00 _______________________ Join us for a day of machine quilting fun as you learn the art of log cabin quilting. Using strips of fabric you’ll learn how to build your work, creating a beautiful cushion cover to take home. We’ve got all the fabric you could need, but if you have a specific colourway in mind, or precious fabric scraps you’d like to use please feel free to bring them along on the day. We’re on a mission to rid the world (well let’s tackle Shropshire first) of plastic bags! Whether you would like to sew at home, join us at Loudwater or get a group together in your own town or village we’d love to get you involved. From understanding clays and glazes and working in slab and coil you’ll learn all the basics you will need to get you started on making your very own masterpieces. Introduction to Tunisian Crochet
Date: 17 January 13 March Time: 10.00am-1.00pm Price: £15.00 _______________________ Come and learn the art of Tunisian Crochet (sometimes known as Afghan Crochet). A combination of knitting and crochet, using an elongated hook this way of working with yarn makes a much thicker fabric, more like a weave. Considered by many to be an easier form of knitting that produces quicker results. Working on a sampler style basis you will learn how to create your foundation row and the four basics stitches; Simple Stitch (also know as Afghan Stitch) Tunisian Knit, Purl and Reverse Stitches. Needle-felted Seascapes
Tutor: Maxine Smith Date: 19 June Time: 10.00am-2.30pm Price: £45.00 ______________________ Join Tilly Tea Dance - Textile Artist & Tutor for a one day creative workshop. Using a barbed needle to fuse different fibres together you’ll learn how to use needle-felting and hand embroidery to create a stunning and one-off piece of artwork. Needle-felting produces a tactile, textured surface on which to stitch and bead. An easy to learn craft for any experience level. No experience is necessary as Maxine will guide us all the way so you can take home a piece of work to be proud of. All materials and light refreshments are included. Booking is essential as places are limited so please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Frequency: First Friday of every month Starting: 7 February Time: 10.00am-12.30pm Price: £15.00 _______________________ Complete beginner, or know a few stitches but then get completely lost? Together we'll look at getting started with crochet. You'll learn a few of the basic stitches to get you started on granny squares for your own blanket and we’ll take some of the mystery out of patterns and all those abbreviations. We'll give you all the help you need to get you crocheting with confidence. Includes all materials and a hook to help you continue at home.

Willow Weaving
Date: 29 May Time: 10.00am-2.30pm Price: £45.00 ____________________ Come and join us for a day of weaving with willow with Travelling Weaver Sophie. Together we’ll spend the day learning the different techniques and ways of weaving to get the best from this natural material, creating your very own willow planter for inside or outside. Can be planted directly with a liner or a suitable size pot inserted. Handcrafted small cork handles will be supplied. Suitable for all, no previous experience necessary. All materials included.

MOSAICS AND TEXTILES
Mosaics
Date: 27 March Time: 10.00am-2.30m Price: £45.00 ____________________ Led by Lindsey, who has worked in 3 and 2D design, along with many years experience of teaching art, design and mosaics. Perfect for beginners you will learn how to apply a range of tiles using the direct method onto an MDF or plywood base. There will be a large collection of tile material to choose from and you don't need any previous design or craft experience. You will learn how to create a colourful mosaic design, use tile nippers safely and how to apply tiles to a backing board. There will be a choice of bases to work on. The aim is to explore this fascinating craft in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Silk Painting
Date: 3 April Time: 10.00am-2.30pm Price: £45.00 ______________________ Join Silk Painter Janet Carleton for a day dedicated to painting on silk, Janet will guide you to design and create a beautiful, unique silk painting to take home. Work from a range of images and resources supplied (or bring your own images to work from). All materials and equipment needed on the day provided. Please bring a hairdryer to dry your work at different stages and an apron if needed. Suitable for beginners, no experience necessary, come and enjoy a new skill in a relaxed, informal day.

Tutor: Gretel Parker Date: 28 February Time: 10.00-2.30pm Price: £45.00 _______________________ Make your very own Easter chicken with expert Shropshire based needle felt artist Gretel Parker. Choose your own merino wool colours from a wide range and work from an existing design or make up your own! All tools provided for use on the day, as well as materials including wools, ready to use beaks and beady eyes. Gretel Parker has been a full time needle felt artist since 2008. A seasoned workshop tutor, she has written patterns for several craft magazines, including 'Molly Makes', as well as her book 'Little Needle-Felt Animals' published by Harper Collins. She aims that each workshop should be not only instructive, but enjoyable and that everyone leaves with their own lovely creation.
