There is a clear continuation of the colour of PINK and RED which have clear connotations that link with it being a stereotypical pop and female artists album. Rihannas hair colour in the video continues throughout her album artwork as being red, which gains her younger female target audience. This red hair colour however is not shown within her website, RIHANNANOW.COM. What is the overall goal, message and or image the company is trying to portray?

Her company are definitely trying to show Rihannas diversity as an artists. Although Only girl in the world is a video that adheres to most female stereotypes her other videos within her album such as s&m and rude boy are more explicit and show her sensual and sexual representations as a female woman, therefore this not only shows that she does not easily slot into a music genre such as pop but this is useful for Rihanna as an artist and her company to gain a wider target audience that is not only older but also includes the male audience type. The website is definitely more simplistic and would represent her as a more mature woman then the young and fun girl who is expressed in the music video.LOUD ALBUM

Do you believe this to be a successful campaign? If so why?

This is a successful campaign due to the fact that her graphic design and themes of her website are updated regularly to link to her latest album artwork and music. Although this might mean that her website doesnt link to an overall theme it shows that Rihanna is diverse as an artist and therefore she will appeal to a larger target audience and will interest people globally.The album artwork and music video of Only girl in the world definitely correspond and link well together and show a fun side and personality to Rihanna as an artist and her other music videos within the loud album still link to her album artwork and image that is being portrayed.WEBSITE

COMPARING ARTISTS IN SAME GENRE

Comparing other artists in the same genre, they have used the same conventions, color themes, camera work and graphic match. It highlights the popular use of conventions with the pop(ular) genre. Both Nicki Minaj and Rihanna have used very bright colors specifically pink in their album artwork and have used close ups as well, clearly showing that these are conventions that support the pop genre.
