Loss Poems

• Losses offer another measure of who we are. Whether for the better (weight, fear of flying) or for the worse (a favorite pen, a pet, a loved one) losses help define us.

•Who we were before the loss and who we are after.

•We are going to write a poem in which we list the things we have lost.

• You should range the loses from the trivial to the immense.

Your loss poem• At least 12 lines

• 3 stanzas

• You should mix unimportant losses with more important ones.

• You can choose to talk about your whole life or just a certain time period.

•Make sure you describe yourself with each loss, it should not just be a list of things.

• Be detailed and specific.

• Each stanza should start with “I have lost..” Those lines DO NOT count as your 12.
