So you’ve locked down a sure thing for that New Year’s Eve smooch? Yay!
Unfortunately, after the fireworks die down you may find yourself looking a bit cuddlier than you did as a single gal. All those candlelit dinners, snuggling on the couch and pub-hopping with his mates are bound to add up, and if you’re matching him plate for plate and beer for beer, you’re likely to end up with more than just butterflies in your belly!
When we caught up with H2Coco ambassador Lara Bingle to talk about her incredible bikini bod, we discovered the babe and her beau Gareth Moody are one fit couple!
“It’s rare to find a guy like that,” says Lara of her man. She adds that her healthy habits have rubbed off on Gareth, and vice versa.
So transform your couch potato with their hot diet and fitness tips!

DIY dinnerStaying in doesn’t have to mean giving in. Get steamy in the kitchen and cook up a fab feast!
“I never used to eat at home much but now I rarely eat out. One, because it’s too expensive and two, because you don’t know what you’re eating,” says Lara.
She loves healthy pizzas or rice-paper rolls, controls her portion sizes with smaller plates and keeps meals interesting with good presentation.
“I love making it look good,” she says. “I used to think eating fish and greens was just so boring but it’s not if you put a little bit of love into it!”
Work up a sweatShe’s been vocal about working off kJs between the sheets with her beau, but another great thing about boyfriends is they make good exercise buddies!
“We go to the gym, and yoga – he hadn’t done yoga before he met me,” says Lara, adding that when they travel, they hit the gym. “There’s always a gym in the hotel, that’s a great thing about travelling.”
Get a healthy routineYou may come home with the best intentions but if he’s breaking out the Tim Tams as soon as the dishes are done, you’d have to be made of steel
to resist. Why not both agree to eat well during the week and save indulgences for the weekend?
“Then you can go out, eat whatever you want and you’ll look forward to it at the end of the week,” says Lara.
Head outIf you can get him to ditch his Xbox for the great outdoors, it’ll be well worth it. Lara loves water sports, skateboarding and heading out to hunt for healthy food. “Gareth and I sometimes wake up early and we go out to Sydney Markets in Homebush. Everything is so cheap and you can kind of organise yourself for the week.”
Be party smartCombining two social circles and their birthdays, friends’ weddings and pub crawls is a diet disaster waiting to happen. Take some tips from this social butterfly!
“Have a meal before you go out,
because when you don’t you’re so hungry and you end up eating whatever’s there,” says Lara. “If I drink, I have a vodka, lime and soda.”
Tailor your takeaway Even foodies like Lara and Gareth have off days, but if those days happen on a weekly basis you should steer clear of ordering mountains of spring rolls and oily curries. Make like Lara, who picks sushi and sometimes signs up for a cleanse from Eat Fit Food (eatfitfood.com.au), which delivers meal plans tailored for men and women.
