LosNietoswillcelebrateits150thanniversarythisspring,andLosNietosMiddleSchoolwillplayalargepartinouranniversarycelebration.Wearesubmitting grants, building new community partnerships, and takingactiontoensurethatLosNietosMiddleSchoolisaresourcecenterforallofourcommunity’sstudentsandtheirfamilies.

With two School Board members as parents of 7th grade students thisyear, all parents can be confident that Los Nietos Middle School willcontinuetoreceivethecare,resources,andsupportnecessarytomakeitoneofthebestmiddleschoolsintheWhittierandSantaFeSpringsarea.

As principal of Los Nietos Middle School I take seriously that theparents of the Los Nietos School District entrust their children’seducationtoourcare.Itisatrustthatweholdsacredanddonottakefor granted. Our staff is committed to providing the children of LosNietoswiththeacademictoolsthattheyneedinordertobesuccessfulinhighschool,college,careerandlifeendeavors.

These past two years our small community school has shown thehighestAcademicPerformanceIndex(API)gainofanymiddleschoolin theWhittier and Santa Fe Springs area,with a total growth of 88points. Working collaboratively as a middle school staff, Los Nietosdistinguished itself as the only middle school in the Los AngelesCounty to exit out of Program Improvement. Investing districtsupport, resources, andawhole‐hearted commitment tohelpingourschooltoexcelachievedthisincrediblefeat.Wearecertainthatasoursite and district personnel work hand in hand this year, we willcontinue on our trajectory of academic achievement, social growth,andrewardingexperiencesforallstudents.
