ABOUT US: Established in 1996 and headquartered in Warner Center, Structure Home builds and remodels fine custom homes throughout the Los Angeles basin. Our staff is a group of seasoned professionals with the expertise and systems necessary for the complete implementation of real estate development. We believe that the proper approach to our business, our clients and partners is a comprehensive involvement in the development process with the use of carefully detailed systems to achieve pre-established results.

Our approach to design begins with looking at a building, functionally and aesthetically, as a complete operating system intended to perform today and for generations to come. To accomplish this goal, the entire design consultant and construction team must work collaboratively…in a well-organized process. We call our design development process ‘Whole Lot Living”… the thoughtful consideration of the entire structure, as well as its relationship to the natural surroundings. At Structure Home, we believe that a carefully managed design/specification and construction process is the only way we can be responsible stewards of our client’s most valuable investment.

On Schedule...The Most Direct Path Between Two Points is a Straight Line. by: Robert Kleiman and Mark Sapiro, Structure Home

In a recent walk through of a newly completed

home, a client told me that many neighbors had

commented that they were impressed by the speed

with which the home was constructed. In and of

itself, when neighbors observe a construction site

make progress consistently toward completion,

there is a positive response…even a bit of wonder.

This reaction is due to the fact that continual,

uninterrupted progress is not the norm. Too often,

we have all seen projects that stumble along…with

some times that are active and more times where

little is going on at all. Indeed our client’s home

was completed on the 12-month schedule, which

by itself, is an aggressive pace for any custom

home. Perhaps more than the actual time spanned,

the construction cycle was perceived to go quickly

because the construction cycle ran without

interruption…from start to finish. What causes this

result to occur?

Thoughtful and proactive planning, building and maintaining momentum and continual progress through completion are objectives every client desires. As an organization, we are continually examining and working to improve the execution of the design and construction phases. Our goal in streamlining each aspect of the process is to maximize efficiency, facilitate creativity and to improve the experience of everyone sharing in the custom home building experience. We achieve these goals by providing the appropriate team supported by a well-organized, integrated and systematic approach to each stage of project development.

...On Schedule Continued

Structure Home created its’ own comprehensive project management schedule called the “Journey Timeline” – a detailed blueprint for the entire path through the design and construction process. The Journey Timeline was developed based upon our experience with all prior Structure Home projects, with feedback of clients, design consultants and trade partners...where we examined, defined, and implemented a plan to direct the team through all the required steps. The goals of that process are:

To enhance the customer and project management experience. To improve management, construction schedule and budget efficiencies. To optimize construction methods and quality.

In addition to significant financial benefits derived from a systematic process, the quality, cost and durability of the finished home is improved. Inherently, thoughtful and proactive planning requires the design team and trade professionals to refine and resolve the design vision in advance of construction. A fully-vetted design solution further enables each trade professional on-site to focus on thoughtful installation and craftsmanship in each component of the home. With proper advance planning, proactive decision-making and the experience/knowledge to anticipate the requirements of a custom home…a smooth and continuous flow of work occurs and scheduled completion dates are met. This is a simple principal that makes common sense to anyone…and still many builders and architects do not anticipate the entire pre-construction, construction as well as post-construction phases of your home. The complex nature of custom construction requires a comprehensive organization of tasks, communication and follow through to accomplish. For Structure Home…a pre-determined Journey roadmap…yields consistent, predictable and positive results. It is therefore no surprise that the neighbors are in good spirits...offering our clients a warm welcome to their new neighborhood.

Color of the Year…2014 The Year of the Orchid By: Jill Wolff, Jill Wolff Interior Designs

Every year Pantone announces the “color of the year”. This year their color choice is called “Radiant Orchid”. After living through the 80’s and the onslaught of mauve as a color that showed up everywhere (think Miami Vice) my initial reaction was not totally positive. Images of grey berber carpet and pinkish hued walls filled my head!

OK…..pull yourself together Jill, they must be talking about a beautiful color that will be easily integrated into home design...and they are. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute describes the color this way, “An enchanting harmony of fushia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love, and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” I’ll take some of that please.

After thinking about this color for a while, I realized that I have used this shade in many of my jobs, quite successfully. As an accent, it works in both a contemporary or traditional environment and it plays well with earthy neutral tones. I took a walk through my home and stopped dead in my tracks as I realized I had a beautiful “radiant orchid “ of my own, a holiday gift from Stefanie and David, two current clients of Structure Home and JWID. Looking through images of past jobs, Radiant Orchid popped up in many places. In the Vision House LA project, we used hand blown recycled glass light fixtures from Cisco home…the center and largest jug is a lovely shade of purple! ...Continue reading on next page

...The Year of the Orchid Continued By: Jill Wolff, Jill Wolff Interior Designs

In this living room that was completed in 2012, I used a deep shade of the color for accent pillows, a lighter shade for the armchairs and then again it shows up in the beautiful iridescent glass tile at the fireplace surround.

Finally, I was reminded of this sweet bedroom that was designed last year for a young woman. The orchid was tempered with lots of silver, grey, white, and a touch of turquoise.

Embracing color requires taking chances and sometimes surprising yourself along the way. Goodbye to the stereotype of Miami Vice and the 1980’s, hello to 2014, and all of the good things that this color promises, “great joy, love and health.” Couldn’t we all use a touch of Radiant Orchid in our lives?

Unique/Key Features: The client insisted upon accomplishing an authentic home that would honor some of the great traditional homes of Paul William, AIA. The result we are most proud of is that from the street view and throughout this beautiful home it is hard to distinguish it from the 80 - 100 year old homes in little Holmby. The informal family room opens to a kitchen and breakfast area. Adjacent to the kitchen and outside of the custom sized pocket doors is a formal living room, a retractable closet bar, and a decadent dining room, as well as a luxurious swimming pool and beyond. Rich white textured brick and wood accents throughout the home interior and exterior combine to create a beautiful accomplishment of old-world design with all of the latest amenities. The interior designer of this home was Elizabeth Dinkel Design Associates.
