OFEA NEWS! President’s Message

How time flies when your having fun! I must say that this has been an interesting year to be in the horse industry. I believe with OFEA making changes to the show lineup, has made our events move along smoother and more efficient. Can’t say enough about show management. OFEA is blessed to have the hardest working Board of Directors, sprinkling their knowledge; insight and heart felt words of encouragement. I’ve said it a million times, that without our fantastic volunteers, we would be unable to have our events. So thank you all again for supporting OFEA!

Reflections on how we conquered our fears, becoming more in tune with our equine partners and staying true to your convictions is what drives us to be better stewards. Speaking out for animals that are abused, whether if be mentally or physically is one step closer to successfully making an alteration to how people see you and brings hope to animals that have no voice.

We’ve surrounded ourselves with people who are friends, mentors and acquaintances. We lean on our friends in time of need and happiness, listen and learn from our mentors and enjoy the company of like-minded individuals. We have kept our mission strong, maintaining the family friendly atmosphere that everyone has become accustomed to. Let’s all carry that forward into 2019, one nicker, hoof beat and heartbeat at a time, we all can make a difference.

OFEA’s 19th Annual Awards Banquet and Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at the Roth’s Event Center in Salem. We will be celebrating Chinese New Year. The evening will begin at 4:00 PM, with registration, silent auction and visiting with your fellow competitors. We will begin with our Oral Auction at 4:45/5:00 and dinner shortly afterwards. Our Awards Ceremony will begin close to 6:15 PM. Reservations are due by Jan. 14th . You can find our registration form on our FaceBook page.

Our buffet will include Beef and Broccoli, Orange Chicken, Vegetable Chow Mein and Fried Rice,

The children’s menu will be a buffet between cheeseburgers or chicken strips. The vegetarian menu will be announced soon. We’ll have appetizers and a no-host bar prior to dinner and dessert following dinner.

The Jean Sirotek Sportsman-ship Award This award is given to an individual nominated by OFEA membership. It is given to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship both in the ring and out. The Spirit of OFEA Award This award is given to individuals or organizations who truly represent OFEA and all it stands for. They can be seen working and riding for OFEA. They are always there lending a hand, praising others and in general sending positive messages to others! OFEA Horsemanship Award This award is given to individuals or organizations who exemplify integrity, sportsmanship, helpfulness, coopera-tion, stewardship and horsemanship. The individual or organization nomin-ated has made a positive contribution to the equine industry as a whole.

Service Hours Awards

Trail Logged Hours--Be sure to submit your hours by December 31st! Trail hours are earned by logging in your hours of riding out on marked or unmarked trails.

Service Hours--The goal of the OFEA Service Award is to promote OFEA members to volunteer their time and money to better our human and animal communities. OFEA as an organization could donate money or time, but by promoting volunteering and encouraging all our members to help out we are able to make a much bigger difference and reach many more communities. Due Dec. 31st

English Versatility and Western Versatility Horse—Earned points for either of these two categories are due Dec. 15th.

Sponsorships and silent auction items are critical for our awards program. Please help with asking any business, family and friends for their donations. OFEA is a nonprofit organization of 175 members, managed entirely by volunteers. Sponsors provide the crucial support to recognize our members’ outstanding accomplishments through these awards. A variety of sponsorship packages are available offering varying levels of support. In addition, sponsors receive a full year of recognition on our website at :www.oregonfamilyequestrian.org.

$500 Overall Event Gold Sponsor Sponsorship of the OFEA Top Five Overall Exhibitors; special introduction during the program; your business’ banner displayed on the wall behind the podium; complementary dinner and seating for two at the head table; your brochure enclosed in each member’s registration packet; your small giveaway favor at each table setting; full-page ad in our printed program; and website recognition for your business throughout 2019.
