Materials 6” Styrofoam tree form 3 ½” x 54-60” strip of felted wool Straight pins Instructions: Fold the strip of wool in half, raw edge to raw edge. Pin down the length of the wool strip, stopping about 6” from the end. Cut through the layers, from the folded edge towards the pinned raw edge, stopping about ¼” from the pinned edge. Make your cuts ¼” – ½wide – your preference. My cuts were approximately 3/8” wide on the model. Start pinning the strip to the tree, removing a pin from the edge and inserting it into the tree as shown. Try to keep your strip even horizontally as you wind around the tree When you get back to the beginning of the strip, remove the first pin, overlap the strip and pin through the 4 layers. Trim off the remainder of the long strip. Start your second row, leaving about ¾”-1” of loops showing on the previous row. Follow the same procedure as you did on the first row to complete the second row. Continue with your rows until you reach the top of the tree form. You should have 6 rows. Cut a 1 ½” wide strip from the remaining, uncut wool. Wrap this strip around the top of the tree, trim the excess. Pin to hold in place. The top edge of the wool strip should be sticking up above the top of the tree form about ½” or more. Fold the excess down and pin to cover the Styrofoam. Stick a star, snowflake or other tree topper in the top of the tree, and finish with a rustic tied bow! ©2018 Kathy Brown for The Teacher’s Pet. Materials

6” Styrofoam tree form 3 ½” x 54-60” strip of felted wool Straight pins

Instructions:

Fold the strip of wool in half, raw edge to raw edge. Pin down the length of the wool strip, stopping about 6” from the end.

Cut through the layers, from the folded edge towards the pinned raw edge, stopping about ¼” from the pinned edge. Make your cuts ¼” – ½” wide – your preference. My cuts were approximately 3/8” wide on the model.

Start pinning the strip to the tree, removing a pin from the edge and inserting it into the tree as shown. Try to keep your strip even horizontally as you wind around the tree

When you get back to the beginning of the strip, remove the first pin, overlap the strip and pin through the 4 layers.

No part of this pattern may be reproduced in any form, mechanical or digital
