Launching the new Phoenix Taekwondo Black Belt Academy

Weare veryexcited to announce the launchof thebrandnew Phoenix Taekwondo Black Belt Academy onWednesday evenings from 7:30pm, directly following ourWednesday Juniorclassat LadygroveParkPrimarySchool.Phoenix Taekwondo has now more than 150 members,withmostofourclassesrunningatnearcapacity.Wealsohave an increasing number of members, more than 25students with black on their belts(!), either at orapproachingBlackBelt levelandarekeentomaintainandevolve our high levels of coaching at these grades. The

Phoenix Black BeltAcademy has beenlaunchedtoprovideanalternative class forour highest Black BeltgradesandthoseBlackStripegradedstudentspreparing for nearbyNational Black BeltGrading Examinations.

BlackBeltAcademymembersareabletoattendeitheranormalclassortheacademyclasseachweek.Theacademyclassesaretoughwiththeemphasisonhighintensityortechnicaltrainingandwillmaintainandevolvethehighlevelsof Taekwondo we all enjoy across all Phoenix Taekwondo classes, completing the Taekwondo journey from LittleDragonstoBlackBeltandbeyond.

FirstupwillbeourSpringLittleDragonsGradingonFriday16thMarch.AgradingE-mail has already been sent out toparentsofallofourLittleDragons.Thebelt presentationwill takeplace at thefollowingclassonFriday23rdMarch.Asalwayspleasedoensurethegradingfeeispaidbeforethegradingdate!

Nexton the listwill be the first of twoclub gradings for our Junior and Seniorclasses.ThiswillbeheldonSunday25thMarch and will be primarily aimed atour lower grade students. We will beassessing our intermediate to highergrades on an individual basis to makerecommendations.ThepresentationforthisgradingwillbeheldonWednesday28thMarch.ThesecondofourtwoclubgradingswillbeheldonSunday8thofJulyandwillbeopen to ALL grades especially currentRed Belts grading for Black Stripe (thefinal grade taken at the club levelbefore the National Examinations forBlackBelt). Thegradingpresentation isexpected tobeonFriday13th July. It isimportant to note that we will notrecommend students for a gradingunlesswefeeltheyhaveagoodchanceofpassing,sokeeppracticing.

New Poomsae Learning Days Completed Sunday11th February saw the completionofourmonstermonth long focusedworkshopsenablingallofourstudentstolearntheirnextPoomsae(pattern)fortheir next grading. The earlierworkshops covered all Poomsaefrom Pattern 2 (Taegeuk iijang,required for Green Belt) throughPattern 7 (Taegeuk chiljang,requiredforBlackStripe).Thefinalsession was aimed at our highestBlackStripeandBlackBeltgrades.Almost every single Phoenixstudent (Green Stripe and above)managed to attend theirappropriate workshop, with thefew who missed the date due toother unavoidable commitmentsattended a brief drop in catch upclinic on a final Sunday session.
