Preliminary Task Music Magazine

* Looking at both front covers, I automatically think the music

magazine looks more realistic and professional.

*The model on the music magazine gives more of a magazine feel. She’s purposely posing for the camera. The model on the college magazine is simply messing around and smiling, which you wouldn’t normally see on a front cover. The masthead is set out more clearly on the music magazine, and placed behind the model. I made sure I spellchecked everything on the music magazine, as I made a spelling mistake on the front cover of the college magazine.

Preliminary Task Music Magazine

* Looking at both of these contents pages, they look quite similar due

to a lot of blank space in the background.

*The photographs on the music magazine contents pages are more spread out and professional looking. The editor’s note on the music magazine, including a photograph of myself and signing it, makes the design seem more realistic. The red triangles make it easier to identify different points. The title is also slightly smaller on the music magazine, this allowed me to fit more items onto it. There is still a line dividing the title from the rest of the content, though.

*Developing Skills

*Throughout creating my media product, I have developed more skills and knowledge about the software I have been using. This makes it a lot easier and quicker for me to design things in the future. I have learnt how to reduce redness and dark places on a person’s face, and completely erase objects from the background of a photograph.

*Knowledge of Forms and

Conventions

*I have learnt a lot more about the conventions of a magazine through creating/designing one myself. I have also gained more of a visual eye for things through feedback and testing out various different layouts of each page, to see which one looks best.
