This rock is black and it is composed of many minerals.It forms when lava from a volcano cools very quickly.It is a hard rock (hardness 5,5) and has a sharp edge.

USES OF OBSIDIAN:- In surgery (as blades)- As a gemstone

OTHER FACTS:Primitive people used this rock to make cutting tools.
