TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE ¿No estoy yo aquí? ¿No soy tu Madre?

¿No estás bajo mi sombra?

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM © J. S. Paluch Co.

“SHARE THE JOURNEY” OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES

On September 27 bishops across the United States joined Pope Francis as he launched the two-year “Share the Journey” campaign, holding events and reaching out to support migrants and refugees in their own dioceses. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the plight worldwide of the nearly 65 million who are displaced from their homes, the biggest such crisis since World War II. October 7-14 has been designated as a week of prayer and action for these groups.

“This campaign is both spiritual and practical,” says Cardinal DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, who is president of the USCCB. “The Pope is asking us to pray and reflect and to use the awareness we build to take action, both personally and publically. To our Church, this campaign is an embodiment of the Biblical command to love our neighbor.”

“The Holy Father wants us to feel this personally,” says Sister Donna Markham, OP, PhD, President and CEO of Catholic Charities USA. “Each of us must work to encounter the migrants and refugees who are all around us. All too often, they seem invisible to us. We need to hear their stories, literally share their journeys, and see them as our brothers and sisters.”

More information about “Share the Journey” is available on sharejourney.org.

Over the past two weeks, attendees of the SHARING CHRIST sessions have become aware that one does not need to be a theologian, a person on the street corner to be called to evangelize. Quite the opposite! This past week we learned the value of being a friend, a person who wants other persons to know the Word by using their actions, by listening, by sharing. Simple things we do all the time. We also are creating a prayer list for those folks who we want to see opened to the Word of Jesus. Over the next several weeks we will gain more confidence in our role as models of Jesus.

We are not meeting this week. However, next week, the 15th of October, we will learn in the SHARING CHRIST sessions that everyone has a story, and quite often "our” story creates an opportunity for others to share their Faith story. You are welcome to come, see and hear the story of those who wish to speak about their Faith. A step in our journey to SHARING CHRIST.

We will meet 9:30 AM on Sunday morning, the 15th. Come and meet with us!

Is God calling you to the priesthood or religious Life? do you know someone who you think might be called?
