• Increase in nutrients, primary productivity, algal biomass toxic

cyanobacteria

• External and internal restoration measures

• Reduction in nutrient loading Oligotrophication

• Reduction in phytoplankton biomass and species composition

• Remediation of lakes retarded process (> 10 years)

• EC Water Framework Directive aims for ‘good ecological status’ of

all European waters by 2015
