The London Stock Exchange Market Open ceremony is a globally recognised symbol of a world class financial and business centre. Synonymous with London’s unique history as a home to domestic and international business, the ceremony reflects the expertise and breadth of the London markets.

The installation is one of the largest of its type in the world, with over 500 high definition LED screens, a giant central illuminated globe and a bespoke ‘market open’ mechanism The Market Open ceremony takes place in the Atrium of London Stock Exchange headquarters in Paternoster Square at 8.00am every working day and signals the start of London trading.

Timetable of events07:40Guests are welcomed to the London Stock Exchange by their London Stock Exchange Group host and escorted to the ceremony VIP suite. (Please be aware that all visitors will be subject to certain security checks when entering the building so please allow sufficient time)

07:58All guests are invited to the Balcony in preparation for the market open.

07:59Guests assemble at the front of the balcony, minute countdown is initiated.

08:00Market officially opens – bespoke engraved glass tablet placed onto podium, opening the market

08:02Ceremony ends

08:05Photo opportunity on balcony

08:10Guest return to the VIP suite for speeches, signing of the welcome book and presentation

Maximising your experience Company logoCompany logos can be displayed on the screens and as part of the opening graphics sequence. Guests are invited to provide a logo at least one week in advance of the ceremony date.

— High resolution images of at least 2K pixels are required

— Accepted formats include i24bit BMP, TIFF, AI, EPS, JPEG or PNG

Attendees and catering numbersMaximum of 40 guests, between 15 and 30 is optimum with a minimum requirement of 10 attendees. A continental breakfast will be provided with Champagne following the ceremony.

Final catering numbers and guest list for security will be required 3 days before the event.

Name of VIPOne person from the company will need to be selected to ‘Open The Market’ a senior company representative, CEO or VIP.

Wording for glass tabletAn engraved glass tablet is the mechanism used to ‘open the market’. Engraving will be personalised with the individual’s or company name.

Wording for the glass tablet needs to be provided 10 days in advance of the ceremony. This is produced and presented after the ceremony as a memento of the day.

Video and filmingOn request the Ceremony can be filmed. A CD with the footage and photographs taken on the day can be provided after the ceremony.

Guests can provide a company video to be played as part of the graphics sequence. This must be delivered at least 1 week in advance of the ceremony and be no more than 1 minute long.

Press attendanceMembers of the press can be invited to attend the ceremony and conduct interviews with relevant spokespeople. On request a live TV feed can be arranged and our high specification studio facilities can be made available for media interviews. Press are not permitted entry to the VIP room where the private presentation and signing of the welcome book takes place.
