Hi, KathyHello Emily
Welcome to London!Follow me!
Hi, Mr. Bean
London is the capital of the UK. It is a very big city. About 8 million
people live here.
Greenwich is a district of the south-east London. There is a Royal Observatory where
the prime meridian is based -a border of the eastern and
western hemisphere.
WOW!I’m on the western
and eastern hemisphere at the same time!
… and now, let’s go to the Queen.
Buckingham Palace was built in 1703 and it is the biggest royal palace in the world. It is the official residence of the British monarchs.
When the Queen is at home the royal standard
is at the top of the Palace.
Every day at 11.30 from April to July there is the Changing of the Guards in front of the Palace.
And you?Why are you
standing here?
Here you can see the Houses of Parliament. The most famous part of the building is …
… the Big Ben - the nickname for the great bell of
the clock.
Tower of London is a historic castle. It is almost 1000 years old. It wasa fortress, a prison and a palace.
Hello! People call me Beefeater. I take care of the Tower ravens because as the legend says “if the ravens fly away from
Tower , the Crown will fall and Britain with it.”
The battery is low! Hurry up!I want to show you the Tower Bridge.
The bridge was officially opened on 30 June 1894. The bridge consists of two towers
tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways. It is a bascule
bridge so the ships can sail under it when it opens.
If you do not meet the Queen in a street of London, you can
see her in the Madame Tussauds Museum.
You can see here wax figures of actors,
pop stars, sportsmen, politicians and many
famous people.
Why not me?Don’t worry,be happy!
Let’s come back to the city centre.
The taxi is waiting.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris
wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames in London. You can
see the whole London from the
height of 135 metres.
135 metres!Was it scary?
This is the end.Kathy and Emily, thank you for your visit and goodbye.
Goodbye andthank you Mr. Bean!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION
