The park is free to enter and full of things to do, including pedalos on the lake and occasional live music at the bandstand. The museum regularly holds children’s workshops and activities, and there’s a restaurant on the top floor if you want to refuel for the afternoon. Don’t forget to check out the street performers and food markets on your way to the gallery for free entertainment and cheap grub.

3pm: Science Museum

Once the kids have let off some steam in the green space outside the Tate Modern, make the short walk to Blackfriars Tube station and catch the Circle or District line to South Kensington for the Science Museum. Another free attraction, browse exhibits on space, transport and computer science, and take the kids to the play area, complete with design screens and a dancing area.
