London Fashion Week
by Faye Waterfield Sunday, 24 February 2013
It really is all change this season at London Fashion Week; the pretty florals and crisp whites of
Spring/Summer 2013 have subsided and left something much darker in its place.
Autumn/Winter 2013 has come striding down the catwalk and the fashion is stronger and fiercer
than ever. The soft pastels and textures we were seduced by last season have been replaced with
bright prints and sharp structuring. This season is all about the strong, powerful woman, so
whatever trends you decide to go with, wear them with confidence...
Boxy Lady

Boxy dresses and oversized coats are ubiquitous this season and have great versatility. Designers
experimented with the new shape and LFW saw it everywhere from luxe sportswear pieces to
little cocktail dresses.

Rockabilly
(from left to right: Fashion East; Tata-Naka; Vivienne Westwood)
1950s Rockabilly was out in full swing this London Fashion Week, with full skirts and cropped
jackets galore. Designers used sheer layering and graphic prints to modernise this nod to the rock
n roll era.
Take the Plunge

The new neckline is not for the faint-hearted, but London saw the trend in full force and in a
seductive range of silhouettes. Lengths and styles varied drastically, but each one was worn with
fierce femininity.

Dark Glamour
(from left to right: Giles; John Rocha; Fyodor Golan)
A darkness has descended on the catwalk this season, as gothic glamour returns. There is a
softness this Autumn/Winter however as designers used soft billowing fabrics to give the look a
more feminine finish.
Graphics

Graphic prints are back and they're bigger and bolder than ever. Designers showed no fear with
this trend as they showcased a perfect mish-mash of colours and shapes throughout the shows.
