Five key points for non-rights holding broadcasters

‘ENR’ accreditees should remember:

1. The only venue you can bring a camera into to film is the MPC

2. At all other venues you are regarded as written press (access to all media

spaces without camera equipment)

3. Five British, eight international and five radio crews per day are allowed to film

in the Common Domain of the Olympic Park. Filming passes and armbands can

be applied for and collected from the IOC Media Operations office in the MPC

4. You should be familiar with the IOC’s News Access Rules

5. There will be a briefing for non rights-holders 25 July, 10:00-12:00, at the MPC

Different for London

Many arenas are very tight for space -

we will expect photographers to be

seated

at more venues that before

Security will be rigorous… however,

they have been briefed about issues

photographers will have

Be prepared to consider traveling to

venues on public transport – it may be

to your advantage for some events.

Strict supervision of ‘remote’ cameras

Page 55: London 2012 Main title of presentation Second line if required

Different for London

Remotes

Wherever possible we will try to put ‘actual’ photographers into all positions

More remotes will potentially be used in London than ever before

There will a strict code to follow, especially when fitting overhead cameras

Health and safety regulations in the UK are strict. If we do not consider the

equipment used to be safe or if the operator a liability, the remotes will not be

installed

In some of our arenas (in particular ExCeL) no proper catwalk exists

If cameras are to be fitted, this may be well ahead of the start of competition.

For this reason be sure to get your requests in early

You may have to consider completely remote controlled cameras for some

venues with trigger, focus and zoom and transmit functions
