FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Keep Denton Beautiful Launches New Look
In January, Keep Denton Beautiful (KDB) launched a branding contest reaching out to schools,
businesses and Denton citizens to develop a new look and feel for the organization. The goal for
rebranding KDB was to create an integrated marketing concept that would convey KDB’s mission
while still reflecting the organization’s grassroots appeal to the Denton community. Fortunately,
several budding graphic designers, aspiring marketing gurus and just a couple of creative people
answered the call. The winning entry was submitted by CJ Cobianco, a Marketing Assistant at Sally
Beauty Company.
Cobianco is a west Texas native who moved to the area after graduating from Texas Tech University in
2007. He majored in Advertising and English, which probably explains his fondness for all things
creative. He sees himself as less of an artist and more of a strategic thinker.
“In the future, I see myself as the co-founder of an avant-garde idea,” Cobianco reports.
Rebranding KDB is a development that was initiated in the annual Board of Directors retreat. Several
committees were formed consisting of board and staff members, including one that was charged with
increasing visibility for KDB.
“The KDB board was hoping to engage the Denton community and its citizens by launching a logo
branding contest,” Lisa Lemons, KDB Board member, stated. “Part of the organization’s strategic
planning includes steps to increase visibility for KDB and its programs. One of those steps was to
rebrand KDB and give citizens a voice in the process.”

held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, April 9 at the Denton Civic Center (321 E. McKinney Street,
Denton, TX). Attendees can get a first look at KDB’s new logo, buy fun new KDB t-shirts and visit
more than 60 booths featuring tree and plant sales, gardening products, landscaping and home
improvement items, children’s environmental exhibits and activities, and fun festival foods. The Home
and Garden Show also includes exciting vendors such as outdoor pottery, birdhouses, sunrooms, wind
chimes, and yard art. There will educational seminars throughout the day. The best part: admission
is free!
