The Overview

Students will be learning about Marketing in this Lesson. They will be using a Subject Matter Expert as well as various technology tools to create their own Logo.


Objectives

At the end of this lesson the student should have met the following objectives:

1) A basic understanding of what a logo is2) A basic understanding of marketing3) A basic understanding of Adobe

Photoshop and the tools that come with it


The Purpose

The usage of technology in the modern world is essential, however it is important for students to value and understand the human need for the technology. The purpose of this lesson plan is for the student to both understand the concept of marketing and technologies placement within it.


The Process – Getting to the ObjectivesStudents will be visiting a Subject Matter Expert via a marketing or advertising firmStudents will be given two one hour lessons on Adobe Photoshop. They will be paired in groups of two. Students will be asked to create a logo for their personality (or a product they can imagine) using Adobe Photoshop


The Learners

Learners will be 7th or 8th Grade Students

Learners should have beginner to intermediate levels of comfort with technology


Technology @ Use.

Students will be using Google for research on what logos are and how they can be used.

Students will be using Adobe Photoshop to create their own logos.


Design Philosophies…

During this instruction Blooms Taxonomy is used throughout the entire lesson. Gagne’s Nine Events are also used during the Photoshop portion of instruction.


Blooms Taxonomy Knowledge: Students will collect marketing information on Google as well as with their SME.

Comprehension – Students will find a logo and describe three qualities within it that markets the brand they are choosing. Students will also learn Adobe Photoshop as a tool to use to create logos.

Application: Students develop their own logo on paper using three of their own personality characteristics, or three characteristics of their product.


Blooms Taxonomy Analysis: Students will interpret what logos of major brands are trying to say to you about their branding. Students will compare and contrast what they and their peers are trying to say in their own creations.

Synthesis: Students will revise their logos after analysis using their instruction on Adobe Photoshop.

Evaluation: Students will assess what their logo markets their personalities to be as well as those of their peers.


Time Overview
