Log on via the Portal withyour network username and password
Click on Learning Resources tab
Under Library Databasesclick on B and selectBibliography ofBritish and Irish History
This the simple search screen. We will do a simple search using the keyword plantation
Total number of hits forplantation
When you finish typing in you search term you get a drop down menu suggesting alternative search terms. We will select Plantation,Ulster
We are told this is a journal article
The article is from the journalHistory Ireland
If we click on the journal title we get all the articlesfrom the journalindexed by BBIH
There is full text online access via the JSTOR database.We subscribe to JSTOR.If you click on this linkyou are taken to a list of theHistory of Ireland holdings inJSTOR
These are all hyperlinks
For exampleif we click on Raymond Gillespie we get all articles & book chaptersby him indexed in BBIH
The Library do not have everything which is indexed in BBIH.In this case if you want to see the bookapply for it through the Library’sDocument Delivery service.
The Library subscribes to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography onlinedatabase. If you click on this link you get access to the article aboutChichester.

To do this click on export

We now need to open up Refworks.To do this logon via the Portal, select the
Learning Resources tab, and under Library databases select Refworks
If you haven’t already registered withRefworks you will be asked to do so.
Change Import filter/dataSource and Database to InternationalMedieval Bibliography
Now click on Browse
We will create a folder calledPlantation. To do this click on Folders,and at the drop down menu selectCreate new folder
These are the 5 references.We will put all 5 in thePlantation folder
We will selectall in the list

Click on the arrowat the Put in folder box
When you get this click on OK
You then get this message
Now go to either View or Foldersand select Plantation fromthe drop down menus
Here is the Bibliography screen
Click on the arrow for a drop down menu of output styles and select the style you want.
