The guild’s Charity Group has been meeting every-other Friday at 9:00am (until noon, or as long as you can make it) at the Lodi United Methodist Church. Next dates: October 2 and October 16

If you’d like, bring your sewing machine—but there also will be pressing, cutting, and hand sewing to do. We are working on catheter and wheelchair bags for the Good Sa-maritan Center. Dottie Sutfin heads this committee.

A guild challenge quilt(a wallhanging) made by Cary Neess, which won the viewer’s choice for the quilt they would

like to hang in their dining room. The gilt-kissed quilt also won a

blue ribbon and a best of show.

A partial view of Madge Robertson’s quilt, which won a blue ribbon, a best of show ribbon, and the viewer’s choice for the quilt they’d like to give as a wedding gift.

Kathy Oyen’s happybright, contemporary pink, white & black quilt won the viewer’s choice for the quilt they would like to give their sister.

Our guild quilt (on the newsletter cover) won the award for quilt to give your dad for Father's Day. Funny, because a mother won it!

Page 5: Lodi Valley Quilters’ Guild President JoAnn Delap 592-3507 ...lvqg.org/media/5beb5cf3b0a164e8ffff81e9ffffe415.pdf · make your way to second period class 11-noon SECOND PERIOD:

Here’s a corner of Kate Hochstein’s masterpiece that

fairgoers voted the quilt they’d use as inspiration for

decorating.

Lori Ripp won the viewer’s choice for the quilt to save from a flood—understandable, because it’s a memory quilt filled with photos of significant life events! Beautifully done in black, blue and a touch of orange.

Fair Wrap-Up: In all, the fair was again a great

showing for the quilt guild. We had lots of super-high-quality

pieces entered for judging, and our pro-fessional judge did an excellent job. Watching the judging is always educa-tional, and if you can plan to attend next year it would be highly advised! The public again seemed to enjoy voting on their favorites.

The 56 quilts we showed in the quilt turning were truly amazing. We packed the tent, and people laughed and gasped in all the right places!

Thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and made it a great event.

Have you started next year’s ribbon winner yet?

At the September meeting, guild member Linda Stoltenberg told us about a new local group called Pink Ribbon Angels. I wanted to include some of that info here for your reference.

Pink Ribbon Angels is a cancer support group that will help pay for mammograms, mileage to and from doctors appointments, and other medi-cal necessities for women who can’t otherwise afford them.

The group has an upcom-ing fundraising concert sched-uled—you can find info on posters around the town. For-mer Lodi resident Grant Hendrickson’s group, The Cat’s Pajamas, will perform, along with other entertainment.

For more information on Pink Ribbon Angels, the services they may provide, or the benefit concert, contact Linda at 635-4016.

A committee was has just formed to begin work on a new quilt for the guild to raffle off next year.

If you have ideas for the group or would like to be a part of the plan-ning, contact any of the members. They will begin to meet and make plans soon.

The 2009-2010 Raffle Committee members are Cheryl

Eggert, Jeannette Lohan, Pam

Setz, Mary Beth Wagner, Vicki Stewart and Karen Bender.
