IWU AT A GLANCE PROFILE STATEMENTFounded in 1920, Indiana Wesleyan University is a Christian comprehensive university committed to liberal arts and professional education. Through innovative degree and certificate programs for adult and residential students, IWU has become one of the fastest-growing private universities in America. Nearly 3,000 students are enrolled on the Marion campus while 12,500 adult learners are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at multiple sites throughout Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio and via online programs.
VISION STATEMENTIndiana Wesleyan University will prepare each student to become a world changer. We will accomplish this by drawing students into an integrated experience of intellectual challenge, spiritual growth, and leadership development. Thus we will: call students to Christian character; expect academic excellence; equip students for success in their vocations; mentor students in leadership; and prepare students for service.
ONE UNIVERSITY, FIVE ACADEMIC UNITSIndiana Wesleyan University provides a diverse set of programs for every type of post-secondary student. Included in the academic structure are five primary academic units:
• College of Arts and Sciences - traditional residential campus located in Marion, Indiana
• College of Adult and Professional Studies - academic programs for working adults, offered in multiple locations across three states as well as fully online
• School of Nursing - home to our highly acclaimed Pre-licensure, Post-licensure, and Graduate Nursing programs
• The Graduate School - provides policies, standards, and strategic guidance for IWU graduate education, faculty, and research
• Wesley Seminary - features an innovative approach to seminary education, offering graduate work built around local church ministry in action

SITES TO SEE
A Williams Prayer Chapel Sit and reflect on the mercies of God as you take in
the beautiful 18th-century Gothic chapel, donated by faculty members Wilbur and Ardelia Williams. Its purpose is to offer a quiet place for prayer and meditation. Mrs. Williams created all nine stained glass windows. The main side windows represent unique Christian crosses from different nations and depict the blood that flowed from Christ’s body to the earth.
B The Sufferer
C The Intercessor
D The Potter Pause to enjoy these bronze sculptures created by
Rick Weinecke, a Christian, Israeli citizen. Rich with symbolism, the Sufferer depicts Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Intercessor illustrates the heart of IWU as a young man and woman quietly study as Jesus guides. The Potter symbolizes the fact that we are clay in the Potter’s hand.
E Student Center Mall As you walk down the extraordinary mall of the Barnes
Student Center lined with trees, overhead cross walks, and 44’ glass roof, take in the Globe Theatre, McConn Coffee Company, and IWU Bookstore.
F Art Galleries Take in the exhibits from IWU’s permanent collections
located in Beard Arts Center. These include paintings and photos donated by our generous benefactors. Periodically, portions of these collections will be taken down to facilitate a visiting artist exhibition or senior student show.
G Interactive Granite Globe A 36-inch, polished black granite ball is the focal point
of the rotunda in IWU’s Lewis A. Jackson Library. The continents are etched by hand on the sphere to create a globe. The 1,800-pound ball, which was imported from China, floats and rotates on a stream of water.
H Climbing Wall Home of the Wildcats, the Recreation & Wellness Center
was granted the Award of Honor for its outstanding design. It is the hub of IWU’s intercollegiate and intramural athletic programs and includes four racquetball courts, a swimming pool, fitness and weight facilities, a 25’ climbing wall, an elevated jogging track, and five basketball/volleyball courts.
I John Wesley Statue A 7-foot statue of John Wesley, the founder of
Methodism, stands at the center of campus as a reminder of the University’s religious heritage. Scott Stearman of Colorado Springs, Colo., created the sculpture.
J Society of World Changers The Society was established by IWU Trustees to honor
people who demonstrate their Christian faith through the quality of their work in a secular world. Inductees include Bob Briner, Frank Peretti, Dr. James C. Dobson, Dr. Benjamin Carson, Tony Dungy, Joni Eareckson Tada, Bill and Gloria Gaither, S. Truett Cathy, Kirk Cameron, David Green and Elizabeth Dole .
K Ott Hall of Sciences and Nursing The new Ott Hall of Sciences and Nursing honors
Gary and Connie Ott for their generous support of the university’s Health Sciences and Nursing initiatives. Gary Ott is President and CEO of TLC Management, Inc., a leading private provider of health and rehabilitation centers; assisted living and retirement centers; and hospice services. He is also a senior member of the IWU Board of Trustees. Connie assists with corporate and community support initiatives.
L Chapel-Auditorium The IWU Chapel-Auditorium seats 3,800 between the
raked main floor and balcony. Dedicated into service on January 13, 2010, the 85,000-square-foot facility is used primarily for student chapel. It also serves as an important venue for special assemblies, convocation services, commencement ceremonies, special musical artists, and community events. This state-of-the-art facility includes such sustainability features as low-E glass, off-peak ice generation and storage for cooling, high efficiency lighting, and integrated energy
management systems.
