Jonathan Quick was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. where he studied singing, conducting, and composition at theUniversity of British Columbia. He is a long time member of musica intima, and has sung with the Vancouver ChamberChoir since 1997. Jonathan enjoys composing and arranging, as well as music recording and editing. His originalarrangement of Loch Lomond was written for musica intima, and may be heard on their CD entitled,"clear".
This song is most likely a tale about two of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s men, captured and left behind in Carlisle after thefailed rising of 1745. One is to be executed, while the other is set free. According to Celtic tradition, the condemnedman’s spirit would return to his homeland via the "low road": His spirit will reach Scotland before his comrade getshome, but he will never meet his true love again.
