Actual Locations Filmed

Page 2: Location review

Westminster

This location was used to help film our time lapse of the clouds in the sky moving as well as cars on the busy street. We filmed this footage at night as the light helps contrast with the protagonist’s feelings, portraying that despite him feeling down about himself, he’s in a location where he can ‘be somebody’ as the lyrics state.

South Bank

We filmed in the location South Bank at night because it would be less busy and this would connote that the protagonist is lonely and feeling down about himself. This location was also useful for our time lapse as it helps portray people walking past the protagonist and not acknowledging the protagonist or how depressed he is.

Trafalgar Square

We filmed in this location because although it’s a popular tourist attraction there is very little light apart from the fountains. This was useful as it connotes that the protagonist is in a very dark place in his life where he is depressed, although there is still a slight light of hope for him.

Buckingham Palace

We filmed in front of Buckingham palace because of its famous history. This is something for the protagonist to look up to and help him get out of the dark place he finds himself in. As it is also a brightly lit location, the light highlights the importance of this location and its significance to the protagonist.

Drama Room

We filmed in this location because we had access to the multi coloured lighting which would add to the concert/gig concept whereby the band is performing to an audience. It was also a spacious area so we had room for the drum kit and the band members to play their instruments in.

Rory’s House

We used this location to film not only our alternative band scene but also to portray the protagonist as lonely and depressed. We also used footage in his bedroom to try and suggest that’s he’s trapped and he’s frustrated with himself. For example, he is seen punching the wall and slamming his book on the floor.
