LOCATION

Tooting Common■ Having studied the location of Slasher Films we established that all locations were

abandoned areas meaning the victims were unable to get help. Knowing this, we thought of abandoned locations nearby and due to the influence of Friday The 13th, we decided to have our film shot in the common, as if it was the woods. This was successful as in our film the location looks deserted with no one nearby. This is essential as it makes the viewer realise they are unable to get help, increasing the danger for the characters. A common fear for most people is being alone in woods after dark. This is because people are unaware of their surroundings because of the darkness and the trees blocking the view. By having the unknown at present, we are instantly going to be cautious and scared as you could be attacked in any second with no one nearby to call for help. Here we manipulated peoples fear and reinforced the danger by including the bloody death. Before the death of the character, the audience already acknowledge that something bad is going to happen, simply because of the environment and the common conception of woods at night. These pictures in the following slides are images of the location where we shot the film.

■ Tooting Common was the first location which came to mind and we instantly reached the decision to choose it. This is because we already discovered a part of the common that was ideal for us as well as it being accessible to everyone involved in the filming.
