Letter from the PresidentDear Friends,

In 2013, we celebrated another momentous year in the life of the Village. Through the gifts of your time, talents and treasures, you continued to plant the seeds of hope by helping us:

• Welcome 7,310 families, bringing the total number of families served since 1986 to 127,847. Families visited us from all 50 states and 22 countries representing North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Africa.

• Log nearly 300,000 volunteer hours• Serve over 320,000 meals• Scoop up 9,000 gallons of ice cream in the Ice Cream Palace• Renovate 48 villas, setting the stage for our Extreme Village Makeover• Celebrate Halloween, Winter Wonderland, Mayor Clayton’s Birthday, and much more,

each week.

All of these incredible accomplishments add up to countless smiles and cherished memories, creating the most precious gift of all for families who need it the most – the gift of hope.

While we are proud and thankful to have celebrated so many milestones in 2013, we realize that the need continues to grow. For 27 years we have kept our promise to never turn down a child. With your ongoing love and support we will be able to continue to keep that promise.

Our 2013 Annual Report tells an amazing story of the power of generosity, compassion and commitment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us tell this story.

With love,

Pamela LandwirthPresident & CEO

Welcoming HopeGive Kids The World Village is truly a place where happiness inspires hope on a daily basis. Welcoming wish families to experience the magic of the Village is not only our mission, but also our pleasure. Within the 7,310 families we served last year, we reached the bittersweet milestone of receiving our 125,000th family to the Village for their once in a lifetime wish trip. We have been honored to host this incredible number of inspiring families from all 50 states and 75 countries worldwide.

Sharing the love and magic that abounds during wish families’ weeklong stays at the Village would not be possible without the ongoing support of our many corporate partners and individual friends. Many have been with us since our beginning, while others have joined us along our journey. We are profoundly grateful to every corporate partner and friend for their unique contribution. We simply could not fulfill our mission without them.

Family LetterDear Give Kids The World,

Thank you, two small words that seem so inadequate for what we feel in our hearts for all of you. You opened your hearts and provided an unbelievable vacation for our family. You have been steadfast, sure and

supporting at a time that we so desperately needed it. It is to all those involved we have profound love and gratitude. Our daughter, Bailey, was treated like a superstar all the way throughout our wonderful trip to the Village, for which we are very grateful.

The beautiful, very fun Village, all the staff and volunteers went beyond any imagination — what an unbelievable little Village. The housing was perfect — the playthings, ice cream for breakfast and just plain fun! The never ending activities and helpful volunteers — wow! Bailey and our family had the vacation of a lifetime! Since the moment we arrived, her smile was contagious, her laughter so heartfelt. She was constantly saying, “This is so awesome,” words we thought we would never hear again. Bailey at the age of 8 was diagnosed with malignant stage 4 Wilms tumor. She lost a kidney, endured endless hours of radiation, was hospitalized with chemo and three surgeries. But, with the help from above, wonderful doctors, and her own strength, Bailey has beaten the odds and continues to test clear of any return of the cancer for which we are eternally thankful.

The volunteers at the Village were extremely welcoming and pleasant — extending their hand to meet all of our needs. Please extend our thank you to all that not only helped us, but continue to help others.

What your organization has provided, what your donors provide, what your sponsors provide and what your volunteers provide is a gift to children like Bailey. You deliver a “time out”; time to have fun, time to forget about the pain, time to be a kid. No amount of words, nor donations can ever repay what you all graciously provide for these children and their families. Together, you are a great force. Together, your board members, your contributors, your donors and your cheerful and fabulous volunteers have created something no one can ever describe. Through hope, love and support Bailey and our family will carry on. We will face whatever comes before us with the same love and strength you have shown us. Our hearts may be broken, our spirits dampened but we believe in Bailey and we believe in Give Kids The World.

With Love,The Mackey Family

Inspiring Happiness Through Nightly Entertainment

The Village turns into a Winter Wonderland on Thursday nights, as Santa Claus visits

the Village and children’s faces light up when they see the bounty of exciting presents

awaiting them. From building gingerbread houses to making reindeer antlers and viewing a polar-themed parade, the fun culminates with a magical flurry of Florida “snow.” This holiday spectacular brings the spirit of Christmas to the Village once a week, year round.

Pirates and Princesses abound on Friday evenings at the Village. The evening begins

in the Castle of Miracles as Ms. Merry hosts her Enchanted Tea Party for wish

children to mingle with the royal GKTW family. These charming princesses and princes sip tea and enjoy cookies and other assorted treats right alongside our Village princesses and princes. This elegant affair is interrupted by friendly pirates who lead the group to the Park of Dreams to induct the children into their pirate crew and participate in a face-painting, swashbuckling good time.

Good clean water-inspired fun is what you will experience every Saturday at the Big Splash

Bash at the Park of Dreams. From playful water balloon “fights” to pool games that are sure to soak parents as well as kids, the fun doesn’t stop at this

high-energy pool party.

Sundays are a sweet day at the Village as the world’s only life-sized CANDY LAND game comes to life at Matthew’s Boundless

Playground. Princess Lolly and Queen Frostine help inspire imagination while

volunteers lead children through the cherished board game, as they become the pieces that move along the trail. There are plenty of sweet treats and fun candy-themed games along the way for everyone to enjoy.

What child or child at heart doesn’t enjoy an opportunity to dress up as their favorite superhero, princess or loveable character?

Every Monday, we celebrate Halloween complete with lots of trick or treating, not too scary decorations and even some fog to create

a fun, family-friendly, not too spooky Halloween celebration.

Shhhh! It’s a surprise! Every Tuesday night, Ms. Merry throws Mayor Clayton a huge surprise party. Guests

are invited to hide as the Bunny of Honor arrives on his carrot car to a deserted Avenue only to be startled as his

guests hop from their hiding places to yell, “Surprise!” Birthday festivities include decorating a birthday card for Mayor Clayton, playing “pass the carrot” or “bunny ears ring toss” and of course enjoying birthday cake and learning some new dance moves to dance the night away.

Imagine experiencing the glamour of being a star walking the red carpet at a Hollywood premiere. That sensation

is replicated every Tuesday night at Julie’s Safari Theatre where wish children and their siblings get the opportunity

to fulfill dreams of stardom as they show off their talents by appearing on our “Village Idol” stage. Village Idol is a safe environment for the kids (and even some parents!) to perform in a positive environment without having to worry about criticism or negative feedback. Contestants sing, dance, tell jokes, jump rope, hula hoop, tumble, play the keyboard — just about anything they want to do — to let their talents shine. Their often moving performances are just as inspirational for the audience and supportive judges as they are for the contestants.

When families visit GiveKids The World, they areimmersed in a fairytale. In this magical Village, clocks talk, Christmas is celebrated every week and ice cream is served all day, every day. For wish families, this fantasy world is a much needed escape from their daily healthcare challenges. Here at the Village, we continually celebrate the joy of childhood through life’s happiest moments.

Nightly entertainment is no exception. Imagine experiencing a year’s worth of celebrations every night for an action–packed week to generate unforgettable memories for children and their parents alike to cherish for a lifetime.

We treasure our families who visit the Village, and are grateful our supporters and friends enable us to provide them with these treasured events every night. Where happiness inspires hope, their dream becomes a

reality during their once-in-a-lifetime wish trip to

Central Florida.

Refreshing Accommodations for our Families

Our villas are our families’ homes while they are on their magical wishtrips. We strive to ensure they have everything that makes them feel comfortableso they can enjoy a worry-free respite from their daily challenges. In 2012, we realized that many of our villas could use some freshening up to better serve our families’ needs. After completing a model villa in June of 2012, we took on the renovation of all 48 villas in the WOW section of the Village. From January to November, crews transformed the older spaces into beautiful, bright and airy escapes for families to relax in after their long days exploring the area attractions. The new villa interiors were designed by Forrest Perkins, a U.S.-based interior architecture and design firm that specializes in

luxury and landmark hotels, resorts, spas and multi-residential projects. Their designs added new tile, upgraded kitchens and

durable new furniture to the units. The resulting villas were full of modern, resort-like

amenities that make the rooms feel like five-star accommodations. We were happy to welcome our first families to these amazing

new spaces in November 2013.

The volunteer Angels at GKTW epitomize the definition of service — doing something for those in need for which they get no pay but the privilege of doing it. Their rewards are far greater — a child’s smile, a breathtaking hug or a simple “thank you” from grateful families.

Our Angels dedicate countless hours serving delicious meals, greeting families at the airport with a friendly face, enhancing the Village’s landscape through different projects and entertaining our families through events and shows. Because of their unwavering commitment, we hit another milestone in 2013 — 2.5 million volunteer hours completed at a single location. We estimate that our volunteer Angels donated over $8,190,251 worth of their valuable time in 2013 to ensure that our precious families experience the vacation of a lifetime at the Village.

In 2013: • We welcomed 16,540 active volunteers. • Individual volunteers donated 270,254 hours. • Visiting groups volunteered 92,962 hours. • For a total of 363,216 hours served.

2013 Volunteer Numbers

each family member who visits GKTW a 3-day park hopper ticket valid at the four beloved Disney theme parks. In an effort to provide wish families with

an extra special visit, Walt Disney World also provides perks such as a Mickey Mouse plush toy gifted to the wish child upon arrival, complimentary parking

Since 1990, Perkins & Marie Callender’s has been cooking up the homemade happiness that inspires hope at GKTW Village. Having served more than four million meals at GKTW, Perkins provides scrumptious breakfasts and satisfying dinners to wish families amidst the charm and whimsy of GKTW’s one-of-a-kind Gingerbread House Restaurant, built and supported through Perkins’ dedicated fundraising efforts.

Giving families a gathering place to enjoy warm waffles at the beginning of the day and a place to celebrate after an action-packed, wish-fulfilling day, Perkins & Marie Callender’s supports the Gingerbread House year-round through a series of in-restaurant fundraisers, golf tournaments, events and their annual employee-giving campaign. Donations made through coin-box collections and stuffed animal crane games also help Perkins raise the funds needed to continue to serve our children and their families fresh baked, memorable meals.

Boston Market loves to serve and they’ve been serving up goodness every day at GKTW Village since 2008 by offering guests delicious meals served at Katie’s Kitchen, a free-standing walk-up café where GKTW guests enjoy home style meals throughout their stay. Committed to helping families eat well, Boston Market dedicates funds to help operate Katie’s Kitchen and also raises money in their restaurants to support GKTW’s mission. In 2013, Boston Market served up more than 85,000 savory

meals to GKTW families. Employees of the popular restaurant chain also

donate their time by tackling large volunteer projects at

the Village.

For 25 years, The Peabody Orlando was home to GKTW’s Annual Black & White Gala, one of Central Florida’s premier events.

The treasured partnership with The Peabody Orlando began 25 years ago

with a simple handshake between GKTW Founder Henri Landwirth and Jack Belz, Chairman and CEO of Belz Enterprises. This handshake allowed for the first Annual Black & White Gala benefiting GKTW to be held at The Peabody Orlando in 1989. Mr. Belz’s son, Marty, benevolently upheld that agreement and our Black & White Gala has grown to become one of Central Florida’s premier events. Each year, GKTW supporters, friends and corporate partners travel from around the country to gather for an evening of elegance, fine dining and world-class entertainment, all in support of the mission of GKTW.

Kangaroo Express hopped onboard with GKTW to create the happiness that inspires hope for children with life-threatening illnesses just three years ago. Since that time, the company has demonstrated just how fast “express” can be by raising nearly two million dollars through their paper pin-up campaigns, loose change donations and inaugural 5K Roo Run. The success of their fundraisers is credited to the dedicated Associates at 580 stores in the Southern division who collectively offer, “The Roo is here for you, wish children!”

Give Kids The World was first operated out of a Holiday Inn run by our founder and successful

hotelier Henri Landwirth. Since 1986, InterContinental

Hotels Group (IHG), the parent company of Holiday Inn, has stood alongside GKTW to bring happiness and hope to children battling life-threatening illnesses. IHG has raised millions for GKTW through creative promotions, grassroots fundraisers and special events held at their hotels worldwide. In 2013, IHG broke ground on

the last four remaining villas in the Fairytale Forest section of the Village with the help of Staybridge and Candlewood Suites, IHG Rewards Club and the IHG Owners Association.

In addition to these efforts, IHG employees frequent the Village as regular volunteers.

For more than 17 years, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has brought the thrills and excitement of the amusement industry to GKTW. IAAPA’s dedicated staff and generous members have openheartedly partnered with GKTW to coordinate amusement park visits for GKTW families through the World Passport for Kids program. As IAAPA’s Charity of Choice, GKTW participates in the Association’s annual Attractions Expo, where amusement park and attractions industry professionals gather together to golf, run, ride and volunteer to benefit GKTW.

Through the generous support of the Don and Lorraine Freeberg Foundation we are able to provide cost-free fantasy vacations to wish families. The foundation has generously supported the construction of two brand-new villas, in addition to their ongoing fundraising efforts towards the Village Capital Campaign.

The kindness of Entech Creative Industries has helped further the whimsical theme of GKTW. Their contribution allowed for the restoration of many of our beloved venues in our storybook resort. We are thankful to Entech Creative Industries for their support in creating a fantasy escape for our precious families.

General Electric Appliances and Lighting has been a treasured supporter of Give Kids The World since our gates opened in 1989. From services to appliances, their donation to the Village makes it feel like a home away from home.

Providing imaginative adventure and action at the largest LEGOLAND Park in the world, LEGOLAND Florida generously provided more than 2,500 complimentary days of admission to our wish families in 2013. Geared toward family fun, LEGOLAND Florida showed their commitment and service to wish families by giving the ultimate experience at the vibrant, interactive LEGOLAND Florida theme park.

Aquatica invites wish families to big splashes and water fun with complimentary tickets to enjoy a serene or extreme adventure at SeaWorld’s popular waterpark. Offering the limitless energy of the sea, Aquatica continues to accommodate our wish families by offering them free wheelchair, stroller and locker rentals. In 2013, Aquatica kindly donated more than 4,300 days of admission to GKTW – a wonderful gift that gives our families precious moments to soak up the Florida sun.

The Village is an enchanted getaway thanks to our partnership with Color Vision. Our mission of fulfilling wishes is made possible through their charitable contributions. Color Vision’s efforts help to create meaningful moments and colorful memories.

Our new partnership with Danze has allowed us to create beautiful, yet functional spaces for our families. Their donation of bathroom and kitchen components allows our villas to fully accommodate our families.

Davidson Hotels & Resorts benevolently chose GKTW as their official charity years ago and their commitment to delivering hospitality continues today as they support wish families at GKTW through ice cream socials, golf tournaments and other fundraisers throughout the year. As one of the largest privately held management companies in the lodging industry, Davidson also helps to raise awareness around the globe for GKTW.

Our wish families enjoy a weeklong vacation packed with fun-filled activities. After a long day, a comfy bed is just what our families need. Because of Simmons generosity, we are able to provide quality bedding and comfy mattresses in all our villas.

Sacha Charitable FoundationThanks to the generosity of the Sacha Charitable Foundation, more children will be able to experience the magic of Give Kids The World.

Since 2002, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have been great friends of the Village. From hosting special events that benefit GKTW, donating wish list items from their stores, and local Walmart Associates giving their time as volunteers, their gracious support for the past 11 years has been remarkable. Additionally, their “Opportunity to Sparkle Together” program, funded by the Walmart Foundation, has funded cleaning supplies, tools and equipment used throughout the Village.

Silver: $150,000+Silver: $150,000+

As a founding partner, Mears Transportation has consistently demonstrated excellent customer service to our very special wish families by providing transportation during wish families’ once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Mears provides transportation to and from the airport and between area theme parks each day. Accommodating wheelchairs, strollers and large parties with ease, Mears has vehicles to suit our guests’ varying needs.

When hosting over 7,000 families each year the Village would not sufficiently operate without all our steadfast behind-the-scenes efforts. As a dedicated partner, Microsoft has kindly donated hardware and software to further support our mission of providing each family with a memorable experience.

As part of the Walmart family, Sam’s Club joined in their efforts to increase awareness and raise funds for GKTW. Their largest fundraisers include eight golf tournaments annually, with events taking place in Delaware, Texas, Alabama and Florida. In addition to special fundraising events, Managers and Associates frequently donate their time volunteering at the Village.

The Sharon D. Lund FoundationOur friends at the Sharon D. Lund Foundation provide a haven of hope for our

families facing great challenges. We are able to create a dream, fulfill a wish and celebrate life

because of their contributions.
