These two exhibitions, either of which would afford an ample entertainment, remain on ex¬ hibition at Odd Fellows' Hall, Seventh stree*, lor a few nights longer. The sieges, battles, and incidents connected with the Crimean war are admirably portraed. St. Ass's Infant Asylum..Among the many objects of charity which claim the atten¬ tion of the benevolent, there is not one would l>e considered more worthy of liberal donations than an infant asylum, if the objects of the institution were properly understood. There one in this city which certainly recommends itself to the kind and benevolent. We refer to St. Ann's, which is located immediately west of the "I Circle." This institntlon was organized a year or two ago, but received a charter trora the Congress ol the United States only in March last. Although under the care of the Sisters of Charity, it is not at all sectarian, but infants of parents of all denominations are taken in and cared lor. They have at present some thirty- two helpless infants, all under the age of five years; the object being only to care for children of this age: as after that, if not adopted by some respectable parties, they are trasferred ta other institutions. The^e children are mostly found¬ lings, or children of abandoned and depraved parents, who are rescued by the Sisters of Charity from the miseries and degradations of bin!ul homes, and reared in a proper manner. A visit to the institution, and an inspection of t-i\e nursery, cannot be made but with profit, mid visitors would at once fully realize the (Treat necessityof the existence of such an insti tution. The children are all happy, contented, neatly dressed and cleanly, and the little cots on which they repose are faultless. In passing through the nursery, the Sisters make the visit very interesting by relating certain circum¬ stances connected with the inmates. In one cot may be found two tiny specimens of hu¬ manity, one a child left upon a door-step, in a pelting rain storm, a few days ago. and another a child whose mother died' in giving it birth. Here will be pointed out the child of a soldier, whose mother cannot or will not support it, and there one upon whose head will be found ly.arks evidencing the brutal treatment to which it had been subjected by drnnken or unnatural parents. There is some sad tale connected with all. and the mute eloquence of the little ones lying there so helpless and feeble would go directly to the heart of all, and make a favor¬ able impression. The institution depends entirely for support" upon charity and the sale of such articles as the ever diligent hands of the Sisters make There is a tlebt of $20,000 hanging Over this asylum, and the benevolent are appealed to to aid in clearing it off. Not only are the physical wants supplied, but the moral wants are prop¬ erly cared for. The visiting days are Mondays and Thursdays, and all whe feel an interest in the work should attend and see its operation a ior themselves. The presentation was to have been made last night at the General's residence in New York. Fatal Accident..About noon yesterday as Mr. Barney Brown, carpenter, was engaged at work on the roof of the Library of the Capitol, he stepped from a small scaffold on one of the cast-iron panels of the roof of the Library, on which was a lot of copper and other materials, and the panel fell through, precipitating him to the stairway of the gallery buncath. a dis¬ tance of eighteen feet, and from the fall or from the copper and rubbish falling npon him be was so injured that he died in a few minutes. When taken up his neck was foui. " to have be4>n broken and his body badly bruised. It is supposed that the weight of the rubbish, to¬ gether with Mr. Brown's weight, was too much ior the panel, which may have had a Haw m it. At the time of the accident several persons were immediately beneath the panel, but hearing the crash they saved themselves TOy running from the spot. The body of the deceased was removed to hi* residence on Twelfth street, near C street south. He was generally esteemed, and had been for many years an active member of the Pianklln Fire company, and served as a vol¬ unteer in the three months' service. Fletcher called upon patrol¬ men Thompson and McElfresh, and requested tMm to arrest a man who had manifested that be was a sympathizer with tha rebels, if not a agent. They went with the complainant iq the corner of Sixth street and Pennsylvania avenue, and arrested the man. He was taken to the Fourth Ward station, where he gave his jukme as David B. Fauquier, of Virginia. He .waa very boisterous at the station-house, and the charges against him being the using ot treasonable l&Dguage, and also representing timself to be a United States detective; he was transferred to the Central Guardhouse, where tie was quite as boisterons as at the statiou. The language charged upon him was used ia tile Central Hotel arid other public places. Mubdkbkd and Robbed..Tuesday night, a soldier uamed Dennis Avery, of Pennsylvania, was p^ked up from the pavement at the coiuer of judA street and I'eunsylvania avenue, by officers Miller and Lynch, and taken to th« Fourth Ward station. He was bleeding freely, but it was supposed that hi? wounds were slight. The children are all happy, contented,neatly dressed and cleanly, and the little cotson which they repose are faultless. In passingthrough the nursery, the Sisters make the visitvery interesting by relating certain circum¬stances connected with the inmates. In onecot may be found two tiny specimens of hu¬manity, one a child left upon a door-step, in apelting rain storm, a few days ago. and anothera child whose mother died' in giving it birth.Here will be pointed out the child of a soldier,whose mother cannot or will not support it,and there one upon whose head will be foundly.arks evidencing the brutal treatment to whichit had been subjected by drnnken or unnaturalparents. There is some sad tale connected withall. and the mute eloquence of the little oneslying there so helpless and feeble would godirectly to the heart of all, and make a favor¬able impression.The institution depends entirely for support"

Fatal Accident..About noon yesterday asMr. Barney Brown, carpenter, was engaged atwork on the roof of the Library of the Capitol,he stepped from a small scaffold on one of thecast-iron panels of the roof of the Library, onwhich was a lot of copper and other materials,and the panel fell through, precipitating himto the stairway of the gallery buncath. a dis¬tance of eighteen feet, and from the fall or fromthe copper and rubbish falling npon him bewas so injured that he died in a few minutes.When taken up his neck was foui.
