    Dear Readers,

    DALLAS, TEXAS

Here it is • • • the first part of the Ancestral Index of our members J

Thanka to Mr. Victor B. Gilman, who not only originated the idea, but actually indexed the material! Mr. J. Ray Andrews assisted him by proofreading Mr. Gilman 1s manuscript of the index. After the manuscript was typed, Mr. Andrews a gain proof-read it and was assisted by Mrs. George Brashear and Mr, J.B. Latimer. We are indebted to Mr. Carr Collins, Jr., wbo presented us with the forms for the work, both the questionmP.res and index sheets and to Hr. John Thornton who has had the responsibility of arranging the material in the bulletin •

If you sent in information on ancestors and do not find it included in this index, it is only because it was received after the deadline set for receipt of material and after alphabetizing had actually begun. Your information has been eaved with the hope that we will be able to publish a supplement to the index at a later date •

If a telephone num ber is not shown after a member 1 s name in t he index, you may assume that this member does not wish to be telephoned and would prefer a writton inquiry.

We have tried to eliminate all errors but realize that some, no doubt, will be found. If such errors are called to our attention, we shall publish an errata sheet as soon as possible •

Because it takes the place of our regular quarterly bulletin for 1962, the canplete index will consist of numbers l, 2, 3, and 4 of Volume VIII. Subse-quent issues are at the printer's now. They will be rna.i.led as soon as possible, but we ask you to be patient because all of our assemhly and mailinr, is done by some of our members who take time from already busy schedules to perform thie task.

Efficient use and willingness to cooperate could develop this index, and future supplementa, into a real benefit to r.iany present and future members of 'our society, as has proved the case, in varyine degrees, in societies similar to ours in other ei ties •

I wuld appreciate re:cei vinc a poste ard from each of you indicating whether or not you found add.itional information on any of your fami ly nes or were able to help someone else as a result of the publication of t · index.
