Local Businesses Create A Win-WinUsing MCC Scholarships for Employees The Buzbee family of Marshalltown have long been supporters of MCC students and athletic programs, but recently they created a benefit for employees of their businesses who are also MCC students. If employees at Zenos, Wayward Social, Wandering Creek or Bobcat Academy have tuition and book expenses at MCC, the Buzbee Family scholarship helps cover those costs. Andres Orozco explains how his experiences at MCC and at Wandering Creek has helped him on his path to the future, Choosing to attend MCC helped me get used to the jump from high school to college, and get my work ethic where it needed to be to transfer to Iowa State University. My advisor did a great job of helping me with my career and academic plans. At Wandering Creek I have been able to improve my people skills, as well as obtain an element of discipline, attention to detail and learn the satisfaction of work well done. Orozco is studying pre-health/kinesiology, with an eventual goal of grad school and owning a physical therapy or sports medicine business. Ivan Santos Moreno has worked at Zenos Pizza in Marshalltown since he was in middle school. Working at Zenos has helped me grow into the person I am today. I started in the dish room and worked my way up to kitchen manager. Starting at MCC has helped me not only save money, but also to continue in a job I love. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be able to attend college and pursue my goals. To give a scholarship is to invest in a person, and for the Buzbee family, investing in their employees will always be a win for the business and a win for the student. The Buzbee family of Marshalltown have long been supporters of
MCC students and athletic programs, but recently they created a
benefit for employees of their businesses who are also MCC
students. If employees at Zeno’s, Wayward Social, Wandering
Creek or Bobcat Academy have tuition and book expenses at
MCC, the Buzbee Family scholarship helps cover those costs.
Andres Orozco explains how his experiences at MCC and at
Wandering Creek has helped him on his path to the future,
“Choosing to attend MCC helped me get used to the jump from
high school to college, and get my work ethic where it needed to
be to transfer to Iowa State University. My advisor did a great job
of helping me with my career and academic plans.
At Wandering Creek I have been able to improve my people
skills, as well as obtain an element of discipline, attention to detail
and learn the satisfaction of work well done.” Orozco is studying
pre-health/kinesiology, with an eventual goal of grad school and
owning a physical therapy or sports medicine business.
Ivan Santos Moreno has worked at Zeno’s
Pizza in Marshalltown since he was in
middle school. “Working at Zeno’s has
helped me grow into the person I am today.
I started in the dish room and worked my
way up to kitchen manager. Starting at MCC
has helped me not only save money, but
also to continue in a job I love. I am very
grateful to have the opportunity to be able to
attend college and pursue my goals.”
To give a scholarship is to invest in a
person, and for the Buzbee family, investing
in their employees will always be a win for
the business and a win for the student.
Ivan Santos Moreno, MCC student and Zeno’s kitchen manager
Andres Orozco, MCC alumnus, ISU student and Wandering Creek employee

Endowed Scholarships An endowed scholarship sets aside a substantial initial
gift as principal, and awards the income from that
investment annually as the scholarship. This creates a
perpetual gift that lasts beyond the lifetime of the
donor. Any donor can contribute to our existing
endowed funds if he or she likes the idea of the gift
being invested but does not want to create their own
endowment.
an annual scholarship. In this way, your name can be
recognized, and you can identify the characteristics of
the type of student you’d like to assist.
Planned gifts
Gifts by bequest in a will, naming the MCC Foundation as a beneficiary of life insurance or a 401(k) plan,
and gifts of securities, real estate or farms are all ways to plan ahead for a substantial gift to the MCC
Foundation at a later date. We welcome conversations with donors about establishing your legacy, so we
can honor your priorities and values after you are gone.
Simple One-Time Gifts You can send checks or provide credit card details on a pledge card or over the phone. Be sure to label
any mail with Foundation on the outside, and note on your pledge card or check any specific fund you’re
selecting.
