Dear Parents and Caregivers, What an amazing couple of weeks we have had at kindy! Our ‘Outdoor Kindy Week’ preparations, planning and activities have been our focus and needless to say, enjoyed by all. As a group of learners (staff, parents and children), we all experienced magical moments of authentic learning. We learnt that we are re-sourceful, creative, independent and resilient. Our kindy children coped exceptionally well with the change of environment and the change of resources available ( no toys, just tools and re-purposed and natural materials). In fact, they rose to the occasion and surpassed our expecta-tions , showing us all just what powerful learners they are. Who would have thought that our kindy children could design and make structures using only sticks and ropes, or that they would use planks of wood, stones and sticks to symbolise play things and objects? Who also would have thought that they would solve drainage issues and design complex water ways including trenches, dams and canals? Or that they would create magical gardens for our fairies, bird feeders for our birds and cook a campfire menu resembling a masterchef kitchen? To be involved in such rich learning experiences was a pleasure and taught us all so, so much about children as powerful and competent learners. We have reflected lots about the learning that we all experienced. We know that we will never be the same as educators as we have seen that ‘less is more’ when it comes to the resources available to children. We plan to continue our learning journey together and continue our outdoor learning experiences. Although most children voted to have ‘Outdoor kindy Year’, we figured that we still spend the majority of our playtime outdoors. We will have loads of photos available for you to view. Thanks so much to Ali Moylan for her amazing photos. We will have them running on the iMac over the next few weeks.

Thank you
Where do we start this week with saying
thank you. Our outdoor kindy has been so
successful and we would like to thank the
following people.
Olivia’s family and the Riches Family for
donating firewood.
The Tilbrook family for donating firewood
and stumps for the fire pit.
Jody Schulz for stumps ,the apples and apple
slinky machine. (and more apples on the
second day after the children ate them all)
The Kowald family for the hay bales which
the children created many things from.
Everyone who donated pine cones, gum
nuts, sticks etc we used them for allsorts of
learning experiences and have a good sup-
ply now for further experiences.
The Fox family for lending us their gazebo
for the week, it was a fabulous spot to do
cooking.
Thank you to all our helpers and visitors for
the week, every bit of assistance was truly ap-
preciated and helped to make the whole ex-
perience even more special.. (would love to
name you all but I don’t want to miss any-
one.)
Thank you Mr Garry North, principal of
Lobethal Primary School for bringing his
guitar along and singing songs and telling
dreamtime stories to our children.
Thank you to our lovely parents and friends
who brought us coffee.
Also a huge thanks to Ali Moylan for mak-
ing us beautiful soup for lunch on Friday. It
was very much appreciated by us all after a
very wet morning outside.
Also thank you to Ali for spending the day
with us with her trusty camera. She has
taken some amazing photos and is a very
talented photographer. We will be display-
ing photos on the IMac this week.
You may be unaware that we have a Parent Borrowing
Library. It is situated near the back door. Please take time to browse the selection of books and if you would
like to borrow any of the publications please borrow using the bookmark system under your child’s name.
From week 7 this term we will be changing the way our
children have morning fruit. We found that the children really coped well with their own fruit last week and have
decided to continue this process starting next week. So please send your child with a names piece of fruit for
the morning and the afternoon.
This also means we will no longer need help in the morn-ings with fruit chopping, so thanks to everyone who has
helped us in the past.
Once again we will be conducting a McCues Bakery Fundraiser. This has been a very popular and successful fundraiser in the past. You will receive forms this week, so show your family, friends and work colleagues to help make this fundraiser a success.
