In this first assignment of the course we were asked to create a Language Learner

Profile based on a student’s performance in the English language. I consider this was very

helpful for it required lots of analysis and dedication, which certainly helped us improve

our abilities as future English teachers.

The Language Learner Profile was a quite useful assignment given that it gave us

the opportunity to focus on one learner’s strengths and weaknesses, indentifying them

and after a long analysis, proposing a solution to it. I consider this is very relevant specially

in our case, since it seems quite difficult to do this type of individual analysis on a real

educational Chilean context. For instance, in my experience in teaching practice centres, I

have seen many times how gifted and talented students are forgotten and eventually tend

to lose the ability they once had. Although it is not a daily reality, it is something that

happens on a regular basis and it is explained by the lack of time teachers have to

evaluate and study one by one student in the classroom.

From the many aspects involved in this assignment the one which caught my

attention was the lesson plan we were asked to propose in order to help the student

correct her mistakes. Although we knew the lesson would not be actually used to help the

student, it was very motivating to create a lesson plan in which she would have the

opportunity to learn and improve specifically to her own needs.
