Recently Miguel Sá was pleased to accept the new challengeto become the Industry Fishing Director of WireCoWorldGroup.

But we hope that thisdeal can be signed soonenough, as our fishing gearsales to that fishing area were(are) quite interesting.

Increasing concerns about safety when handling steel wire ropesoffshore, and the risk of the ropes coming into contact withpipelines in complex subsea fields, has prompted LankhorstRopes to introduce a range of floating anchor lines for mooringworking barges during construction operations offshore.

Since 2009 Lankhorst Ropes hassupplied synthetic anchor ropesfor bespoke projects. The ropeshave been shown to offersignificant safety and operationaladvantages compared with steelwire lines.

Unlike steel wire mooring lineswhich are difficult to handle andcan damage subsea pipelines, theLankhorst synthetic rope anchorlines are easier and safer tohandle, and require lessmaintenance as for example nogreasing is required. Moreover,they enable speedier operationsoffshore as the synthetic mooringrope needs fewer floating buoysthan wire anchor lines.

Lankhorst anchor ropes come inseveral variants, where thelongest possible length dependson the diameter required, andinclude:

- Full lengths of 12 strandLANKO®FORCE braided ropes(up to 1,500 meter and more),

- Full lengths of jacketedTIPTO®WINCHLINE (up to 1,000meter and more).

Where necessary modular lengthsof TIPTO®WINCHLINE, joined byshackles, can be used. Incomparison with steel wire, theselengths do allow an increased in-terval of floating buoys due to thelow weight of this floating rope.

In addition, LANKO®FORCE has asimilar diameter/strength ratio tothat of steel wire, therefore, only
