LIVING AS SERVANTS—NEWS
Connecting Compassionate People With People in Crisis
Doing It For The Glory of God!
We are in the midst of an amazing
time at Servants! We are so excited
about the way God is blessing so many
people in crisis through volunteers,
donors, partners, and staff!
Home Helps held four (4) local work
camps this summer hosting over 325
volunteers and serving over 45
families.
1) Faith Beyond the Pews Work Camp in
Red Lion and Eastern school
districts celebrated 25 years of
service;
2) Northeast Work Camp in
Northeastern school district
celebrated 10 years;
3) Go Beyond Work Camp in Lancaster
celebrated 3 years; and
4) the First Ever York City Work
Camp!!!
This summer we had four (4) trips and
over 40 volunteers to Guatemala, three
(3) trips and over 25 volunteers to the
Dominican Republic, and our first trip
of 10 volunteers to Uganda.
Our missionaries and volunteers are
hard at work in Guatemala helping
with the recovery from the recent
Fuego Volcano Eruption and serving
our at-risk families in Linda Vista,
Nebaj, and Villa Nueva.
Five (5) teams and over 40 volunteers
went to Texas to help with the
Hurricane recovery and we had our
first trip of six (6) to Puerto Rico to
help with Hurricane repairs.
We want to share this with you not to
boast in Servants, but to boast in our
Lord and for the Glory of God!
We are humbled to be a part of what
God is doing in the world today and
are so excited to be doing it beside
YOU, our volunteers, donors, and
partners.
Please pray that God would provide
funding for Servants. God is doing a
great deal of transformational ministry
through Servants, which means our
expenses are high, but donations drop
in the summer and fall. Pray that God
would supply the donations to match
these needs.
Please consider donating at

Because of donors and mission teams…
Be Strong. Be Brave. Be Fearless.
You are never alone. —Joshua 19
Be Strong! That’s what moms say
on the first day of school.
Be Brave! That’s what teachers say
on the first day of school.
Be Fearless! That’s what we wish
we could be on the first day of
school.
For a child in Guatemala, being
strong, brave, and fearless means
going to school every day even
when your family does not have
enough to eat or pay the rent for
the week. It means not missing
school to work or babysit younger
brothers and sisters. It means
warding off the many invitations
to join a gang.
Being strong, brave, and fearless
means young girls refusing to get
married as a teenager and instead
breaking the cultural norm and
graduating from high school.
In a country, where only 20% of
the population graduates high
school, the Serving at-Risk
Families (SARF) Ministry is
working with families:
• to break their poverty cycle;
• to send SARF children to
school;
• to teach adults skills to become
employed or open a small
business;
• to journey with the family in
their relationship with Jesus;
and
• to be strong, brave, and
fearless in their quest for a new
life of self-sufficiency.
SARF’S 2019 Tuition - Backpack
Campaign STARTS TODÅY and
needs to raise $15,000 in tuition
and school supply funding for
our children.
To support their courage and
desire to lead a life of self-
sufficiency, we are hoping you
will prayerfully consider
donating toward the children ’s
tuition, books, school supplies,
uniform, and registration.
Ways to support the SARF
Tuition—Backpack Campaign:
1) Pray for the children and
young adults attending school
next year - that they may be
safe and studious, and that
SARF can raise enough money
to send all of the children to
school in 2019;
2) Donate directly to the 2019
SARF Tuition / Backpack
Campaign at servants.org/
support-servants or text to
give 717-722-0336 or mail a
check to Servants offices in
Red Lion;
3) Sponsor a family for only $35
a month at http://
mysarf.servants.org.
4) Donate school supplies for our
kids at Servants offices in Red
Lion (shopping list on page 3).
Did you know the average years of
schooling in Guatemala is 4.1 years
per student. Over 25% of
Guatemala's
population is
illiterate, with
illiteracy rates up
to well over 60%
in the indigenous
population.
Let’s get together
and pray for our
kids and
families, and
educate them to
break their
family’s poverty
cycle!

Priceless Prayer Partners
Schools in Guatemala do not
receive any supplies from the
government. Students are
required to buy everything from
pens, paper, crayons, scissors, and
rulers as well as all of their text
books, uniforms, and even soap
and toilet paper.
Thanks to our amazing donors
and volunteers, all of our SARF
kids attend school in 2018 .
When you are shopping for your
family’s school supplies, consider
picking up a few extra items for
our SARF kids.
