According to the report: America’sHispanic, one in every four children in theUnited States is Hispanic. They are thelargest ethnic minority group. By 2050they will be one in three and they willrepresent a significant portion oftomorrow’s work force and tax payers.

For these reasons, the Consulate General of Mexico in San Jose, TelevisaFoundation and the Third Street Community Center are partnering to promotea new program that will introduce Latina girls to STEM related activities. It isour goal to inspire these girls to explore and discover the amazing world ofScience, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics so they can envision afuture in these areas.

In our globalized world it has become more important than ever to teach ourchildren Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. There is, however, atotal lack of representation of Latinas in STEM related fields and a lack ofprograms introducing girls and young women into these fields

If your image of a computer programmer is a youngman, there's a good reason: It's true. Recently, manybig tech companies revealed how few of their femaleemployees worked in programming and technical jobs.Google had some of the highest rates: 17 percent of itstechnical staff is female.

It wasn't always this way. Decades ago, it was womenwho pioneered computer programming — but toooften, that's a part of history that even the smartestpeople don't know.
