• Thanks to all the coaches for the absolute great start to the carnival season • 194 teams in winter sport this year compared to 188 last year this time • Thanks to everybody for helping and raising awareness for our Zone sports • Please be aware that some schools were unable to fill even number of teams for PSSA

so there will be some byes in the comps • Thanks to Krista, Lauren, Josh (First in AFL comp), Paul (First in girls Soccer comp-

10. Sports Carnivals (Andy Mathews- Rugby League)

• Opens taken by Rob Carter. Harsh weather and big opponents on the day • No wins unfortunately throughout the day • No one selected for the SSW team • Year 5 students came close and will prob have a better chance next year • Under 11s • A day of great success • Undefeated all day • First win since 2001for under 11s • Students chosen for SSW Roy, Bayley, Daniel & Quade

(Paul Meoni- Girls Soccer) • Awesome result • A great day for all involved • Students chosen for SSW Maeve, Liliana, Annick & Jennifer

(Josh Lanham- AFL) • Last Thursday we had the Liverpool team compete and had an incredibly successful day

which resulted in Liverpool winning the whole tournament • It was a fantastic result for the whole team with only one team kicking more than 12

points against us. We were lucky enough to have 4 boys selected into the SSW team as well. They were Angus Langley, Adam Bates, Kodie Hession and Russell Royal

(Lauren Eagles- Girls Hockey) • On Tuesday the girls competed in the Regional Hockey carnival. They had a fantastic

day and played extremely well, considering most girls have never played hockey before. They showed great sportsmanship and behaviour

• Even though they lost all three games they tried extremely hard and the last two games were close, with Alexis scoring a goal!

• They also didn't get disheartened after playing Razorback in the first game. I am extremely proud of how they represented the Liverpool region

• We have 1 girl who was selected for the SSW team, so a special congratulations to Kaitlin O'Dwyer from Holsworthy

(Krista Atkins- Boys Hockey) • Liverpool Zone Boy's Hockey Team played at the SSW Hockey Carnival • They played their hearts out and had a fantastic day! They are to be congratulated on

their sportsmanship and behaviour • There were 4 teams competing and Liverpool Zone came third • Special congratulations to Nathan Julius from Hammondville PS who was selected for

the SSW Regional Boys Team! (Sharon Daniels- Girls Touch Footy)

• On Monday the Girls Zone Touch Football team took to the fields • The girls did us all proud, playing each game with determination, great sportsmanship

and teamwork! • We managed to make it to the semi-finals but Horsley just put up too strong a

competition and in the end we lost by a tight margin 2-1! • Overall we finished THIRD out of ten teams!

11. XCountry Carnival

(David King) • XCountry is coming up in Week 7 Tuesday 6th June • Information will be sent out next week for all schools to fill out and return as soon as

possible

12. General Business (Andy Mathews)

• Just to note that a student from Dalmeny- Bella Rixon, is a year 5 student who is a dwarf

• Consideration for her to play in the junior games, however she has chosen to play in the seniors comp for netball

• Please just be mindful of her when you are out there as she may get injured with the bigger kids

(Ashleigh Wilks) • Is it possible to organise a Gala Day to make up for the lack of sport during the first

half of summer sport? • As parents are complaining about the money they have out layed as Holsworthy charges

families for the entire season • Giving something back to make up for the money

Pros Cons

Parents will feel like something will be given back in return for the money they perceive as being lost

It may lead to parents/schools pushing for Gala Days instead A big ask of teachers who have to stay back with all the left over students What about the schools who charge weekly, it will be an added cost for those students Will need to run that past Principals

Page 5: Liverpool Zone 2nd General Meeting Minutes · 2019. 10. 25. · Liverpool Primary School Sports Association Liverpool Zone 2nd General Meeting Minutes Thursday 4th May, 2017 Hammondville

• Some ideas to alleviate the issue of parents who do pay for a season that gets washed out:

Ø Having parents pay a term only at a time Ø Pay weekly Ø LMBRA will give parents credit for another event i.e.: excursions or other PSSA

(Ashleigh Wilks) • Do schools pay for the Liverpool Zone affiliation fee? • Most schools do absorb the cost, others charge the kiddies

(David King) • Winter sport is now in the afternoon • Games should start by approximately 12:45 and finish no later than 2:20pm • Touch Football will be played on the lower field at Woodward Park • East/West Comps for Soccer if possible, will need to look into it? • Can all Winter Sport Draws be out ASAP, so schools can organise buses

Meeting Closed: 4:55pm
