Introduction

If you have suffered a bereavement, you may befeeling sad, lonely, angry,

resentful, guilty, depressed oreven suicidal.

Everyone will experience griefdidifferently, there is no set measure of pain or loss

Sometimes it can help to talkto someone, other than a family

member, about your feelings

Liverpool Bereavement Service isa unique, confidential, free

voluntary organisation focused onvoluntary organisation focused onproviding a free, open-endedbereavement service to the

people of Liverpool

Our bereavement support serviceis offered to any person living within

the Liverpool City Council boundarieswho has been bereaved nd feels they would benefit from someone to talk to.

You do not need to be refered by your Gyour GP or Social worker

Volunteers, who are all trained in basiccounselling are available to offer a

“listening ear” and support for as longas it is felt to be necessary.

The volunteers are all caring, sensitiveand understanding individuals.

They receive ongoing training and They receive ongoing training and have regular supervision with, and

support from, their co-ordinator

Generally, appointments will be oncea week, until you are feeling more

able to cope. The length of time yourvolunteer will continue to make

appointments may vary from a fewweeks to a few months. This will

you and your volunteer agree thatyou feel confident to cope without

any further support

This is a confidential service; anythingdiscussed with your volunteer will

remain private within ourorganisation.
