H Cattle feed
.
Cattle are often fed soy.
Spring grasses are rich in
Omega-3 fatty acids
whereas soy is
predominantly Omega-
6.
Good feed for cattle can help
in increase in the output.
I Drying and

Drying is being done on
by farmers on their

Factors in favor of Activity
100 % of the farmers take up soybeans farming in kharifseason.
They have been doing the farming of Soya crop for last 15
years.
They are well acquitted with life cycle of the Soya crop.
According to the farmers the production is up to two quintals
per Bigha or 10 quintals per ha.
It is a cash crop giving the farmers money.
The harvesting process is relatively easy in comparison to
other crops..

Problem Solution Analysis
Sr.no The problem Solution
1 Long duration crop 3 Months Introduction of short duration
varieties 2 months duration
2 Lack of quality inputs on pest/
diseases
Introduce them to Agri scientist
3 Lack of finance - Linkages with local LAMPS
4 Adverse Climatic conditions - Promoting crop insurance
5 Lack of training - good practices Training of the farmers in the good
farming practices7 Lack of knowledge of soil
suitability reading specific crop
Soil profiling
8 Land undulating - Levelling needed

Critical intervention pointsSr.no Critical intervention points
A Timely availability of critical information: Soil profile/ Pest and disease information.
B Water availability - especially the supplemental irrigation facilities in event of the
shortfall of rainfall.
C Timely availability of the - Inputs in buying the seeds (especially short duration)/
other inputs during the sowing season
D Market linkages - for off take of the output so that they can get higher price
realisation
E Need for use of technology - Farm ERP - software package / Computer system.
E Package of Practices: Training of the farmers for better adoption of the practices.

Plan and Implementing StrategySr.no Plan for first year : The strategy that will be implemented
1 Target - All 4 villages will be covered which fall under the watershed area.
2 Coverage - 25 farmers and gradually scaled up depending upon the response.
3 The demonstration area 5 hectares ( 25 Bighas) i.e 1 Bigha per farmer. (to mitigate the
risk)
4 Seed requirement :
15 to 16 Kg per bigha approx.
Total requirement 25 bigha*16 kgs = 400 Kg ( 4 Quintals)
The price of the certified seeds 2500 to 3000 per quintal
Total amount - requirement - 4 Quintal ( 4 quintal * Rs 3000 = Rs 12000 approx)5 Use of IT
Installation of Farm ERP Package (available in along with installation of computer system
with associated accessories.
6 Training of Package of Practices: Demonstration plots, training by Agri- personnel for
farmers/ Exposure visits.

Farming @ IT : Technology @Grassroots Providing simple benefits
WORK FLOW
If the farmer feeds in the name of the
crop and the sowing date, the ERP
software creates schedule that the
farmer can follow
The schedule has the date when it should be
irrigated next apart from the information on
which fertilizer to add, how much to add. It
also gives information on when and how the
harvest should be done
The farmer can record the
invoices, bills, and other
documents in the software
which can help him manage
his produce in next season.
FarmERP helps farmers document and analyse as per
expenses, labour cost and other variables.
The software developers want to make the farming exercise
more stable by making it predictable as much as possible.
The early adopters of the software are the grape farmers in
Nasik , Maharashtra where farmers are known to be
progressive .
Cost of ERP
Standard Rs 15,000
Professional Rs 35,000
High Professional Rs 75,0000
