“By Failing to prepare, you are preparing to Fail.”

Following Benjamin Frankin’s famous words, we are working on preparations for hurricane season. Each week we will publish weekly Hurri-cane Preparedness reminders in The Lively Mark.

We are asking Residents with oxygen con-centrators or those who use oxygen when they are in their apartment and/or sleep with oxygen, to please notify Homa Kadivar, RN, Administra-tor St. Mark At Home, at ext. 1734. We are also asking Residents to notify Homa if they rely on any medically necessary devices that may need power to operate or that will need to be charged during a power outage. This information will be logged and relayed to the Director of Nurses to better prepare in the event of a storm.

Did You Know...A category three hurricane releases more energy in ten minutes than all the world’s nuclear weapons combined.

Midweek MovieThe Midweek Movie for Wednesday, June 26, is

A Long Way Off starring Robert Davi, Edie McClurg, John Diehl, Jason Burkey, Dave Blamy, Zoe Myers, and Johanna Jowett.

Retelling the timeless parable of a father’s uncon-ditional love, tempestuous young Jake tries to escape the duties of the family business by leaving his home and taking his dreams to the big city. Far from the wise words of his father, Abraham, Jake is finally free to live the high-life that he’s always wanted, trading the traditional values of his upbringing to revel in every temptation that money can buy. Just when Jake thinks the world is his playground and every day of-fers another enticing opportunity, he must come face to face with the consequences of the life he’s chosen. Jake must learn that sometimes it takes losing every-thing to realize/appreciate what he left behind, and if his mistakes can ever outweigh the grace of a father’s forgiveness.

This 2014 drama/romance is 1 hour and 45 min-utes long and will be shown at 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Rated PG for thematic elements, some suggestive content and smoking.

Mail Call!

We need your help! Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor Amer-ica’s Veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. While WWII Veterans were serv-ing overseas, they didn’t have cell phones, faxes or telegraphs. Letters from home, called “mail call” were extremely important to them! So the Honor Flight Network has created a project titled “Mail Call” in which Veterans receive letters from people like you thanking them for their service to our coun-try. Please come make a card or letter with our Care Center Residents in the Health Care Dining Room on Wednesday, July 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Life Enrichment Depart-ment will be supplying everything you need to make the perfect card for our Veterans! Please search for this video “World War II Veterans Open Surprise Thank You Letters on Their Honor Flight Trip” on YouTube to see Mail Call in action. We hope to see you there!
