BOOK REVIEW: ANGELS AND DEMONS BY DAN BROWN Angels and demons is a mystery thriller novel by American author Dan

Brown. The story follows the adventures of Robert Langdon as he sets out to investigate the

murder of Leonardo Vetra a physicist at CERN who has been branded with the ambigram

illumination on his chest. In addition to this, the director of CERN learns that a canister filled

with antimatter that has the destructive properties of a nuclear bomb has been stolen and hidden

somewhere in the Vatican. We have our protagonist embark on a frantic hunt through sealed

crypts, dangerous catacombs, and deserted cathedrals.

This book brilliantly binds together science, history, and religion. The book

manages to explore the duality between science and religion both literally and symbolically.

The plot was well paced and suspenseful with little to no filler. The only problem with the novel

was its length. I wish it would have been a bit shorter. I urge all of you to give this masterpiece

a try. This book is not for the faint of heart as it contains graphic details of the murders.

Honorary mention to the ambigrams used in the novel which were crafted by the real-life

typographer John Langdon.
