EricSmithwasbornandraisedinasmalltowninthePacificNorthwest,you'veprobablyneverheardofit.Thankfully,hedidn'thavetolookfarforinspiration.Whenyou'resurroundedbytreesbiggerthanyourhouse,andeverydirectionyouturnlookslikearockymountainpostcard,you'reinWashington.Otherearlyinspirationsasan80'skidinclude:Nickelodeon,BMXcultureandhisDad'srecordcollection.ThroughtheloveandencouragementofhisMom,Smith'shandswereneverfarfromasketchpadandpencil.Highfive,Mom!Spring2008broughtmorethanachangeofseason.AlongwiththeraincameafloodwhenSmithwasdiagnosedwithcancer.Lifewouldneverbethesame,butthatwasforthebetter.Hebegantodiscoverwhatcancercouldgifttohim—theabilitytoabsorbeachmomentasifitwerehiswholelife.Smithbegancreatingasamethodofhealing;optimismandhanddrawntypographymadefortheperfectantidote.Whatwasonceaseedbecameafruit,andpeoplefromallovertheglobestartedtohearaboutLiveNowandwantedtojoininonthefun.Today,thereisastrongcommunityofmorethan100friendspursuingthepresentandspreadinghappiness.AlongsideLiveNow,EricSmithrunsIDRAWALLDAY,afreelancegraphicdesign,illustration,andartdirectionpractice.Tolearnmoreabouttheauthorvisitwww.idrawallday.com.

Sometimeago,Iwasdiagnosedwithcancer.Instantlyperspectivechangedwithinme.Thefearful,humanpartofmybeingwantedtoresistthisdisease,labelitasbadandbeatthemercyofthissituation.ButtheessenceofmyspiritknewthatthissituationcouldnotbeisolatedfromthehiddenharmonyIseektofolloweachday.Havingmyphysicallifethreatenedprovokedwithinmeastrongseparationbetweenmyspiritualandphysicalbeing.Althoughmyphysicalbodywasbeingattacked,myspiritualessencewasuntouchable.Myexperiencewithcancerwasthis:LiveNow!CancerchangedthewayIate,slept,andmostimportant,thewayIlive.BeforecancerIwaslikemostfolks,justcruisingalong.ItwasduringmytreatmentwhenIstartedtodiscoverwhatcancercouldgifttome—theabilitytoabsorbeverymomentasifeachoneweremywholelife.TheLiveNowProjectwasborn!Weareagrowingcollectionoffriendspowerfullypursuingthenotionoflivingnow.We'respreadingourmessagethroughartwork,literature,relationships,exhibitionsandmore.Thismovementcannotbeconfined,isspillingout,andmakinghistory.TheLiveNowbookisaselectionofartworkfrommyselfandmanyothertalentedfriendsfromaroundtheworld.Wehopeyouenjoyit.
