PRAYER FOR THE 25th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
Lord our God, in our pursuit of justice we often close our hearts to another’s need. Make us conscious of your mercy towards us, that in our dealings with others we may allow your generosity to temper our desire for justice. We ask this in Jesus’ name, confident that you will hear us.

The Year of Saint Matthew
25th Sunday in the Year Feast of our Lady of Walsingham (Sunday Readings: of year A : Breviary: Week i) 24.09.17.
THIS SUNDAY’S MASS
Isaiah 55: 6 – 9.
Psalm 144
R/. The Lord is close to all who call him.
I will bless you day after day
And praise your name for ever.
The Lord is great, highly to be praised,
His greatness cannot be measured.
The Lord is kind and full of compassion,
slow in anger, abounding in love.
How good is the Lord to all,
compassionate to all his creatures.
The Lord is just in all his ways
and loving in all his deeds.
He is close to all who call him,
who call on him from their hearts.
Philippians 1: 20 – 24. 27
Matthew 20: 1 – 16.
Intercession : Lord in your mercy
Response : Hear our prayer
Seek the Lord while he may be found
When Our Lord speaks to us in the readings, he opens up
to us many opportunities: the biggest opportunity he
gives us is to establish and cultivate an intimate
relationship with Him who created us, and upon which
our whole lives depend. We are also given the
opportunity to perhaps re-establish those relationships
that we have made, and broken, with each other.
The prophet Isaiah, the mouthpiece of the Lord, opens up
for us the opportunity to “turn back to the Lord who will
take pity on him”. Turning back to the Lord, as Isaiah
reminds us, involves abandoning our current way of life,
reflecting carefully upon those things that weigh us
down, that prevent us from living our lives to the full,
and being the people that God has created us to be.
Turning back to the Lord involves a refocusing of our
gaze, away from ourselves, to Jesus himself; making
Jesus the centre of our life.
We all have those things that weigh us down - this is sin.
When we are burdened and find ourselves lost, our
readings give us those words of encouragement and
support, that, the Lord is near to us and He loves us.
When we find ourselves weighed down by those things
in our lives that we are ashamed of, that we wish we
could hide away from, the Lord is ready, with his
arms outstretched, to enfold us into his great love.
Our readings give us an opportunity to ‘seek the Lord’ in
the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In this sacrament we
are given the opportunity to experience first-hand the
compassion and love of Jesus Himself, who is kind, and
abounding in love for us. In All Saints, there are many
opportunities to go and experience the healing hand of
Jesus. Will we make the most of this opportunity?

Board of Religious Studies
The Catholic Certificate of Religious Studies
Make yourself indispensable with CCRS...
The Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS) is important and
relevant for all. The parish community, in collaboration with the home and
school, has a privileged opportunity and responsibility to help all concerned
to grow in their faith. This is a lifelong process. To achieve this we need to
help those involved with parish catechesis to share this vision and have an adult understanding of their faith.
The CCRS can provide general theological knowledge and offer a better
understanding of the Catholic faith. It will help participants to increase their
practical application of the faith in their ministry in the Church. It provides
the means to accurately and effectively communicate the principles of Catholic teaching.
More details about start dates, fees and your nearest centre please visit the
CCRS Website www.brs-ccrs.org.uk or call us 0207 901 1900

Assistance for Jackie Abbey in Malawi
"As mentioned recently, parishioner Jackie Abbey is working as a doctor at the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic in Cape Maclear on the shores of Lake Malawi in Malawi from August to December 2017 (seewww.billysmalawiproject.org). I am travelling out to visit her from Sat 30 Sept to Sun 15 Oct 2017.
Welcome! - The Billy Riordan
Memorial Clinic www.billysmalawiproject.org Welcome! Welcome to The Billy’s
(Malawi Project) Website. The original
Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic was
opened in 2004 to provide primary
care medical services to ...
Having worked there for a little while, Jackie has identified some supplies that would be of great practical help to the clinic and I am hoping to be able to bring some of these with me when I visit. I have already received some financial and material contributions from the members of the Newport Circle of the Catenian Association which is greatly appreciated. If parishioners would like to help with this, donations of the following supplies would be greatly appreciated: (i) socks and pants for children (0-12 years) - new - cotton -
used to protect wounds and dressing (ii) dresses and t-shirts for children (3-12 years) - boys and
girls - good condition (iii) dressings, bandages - any and all types.
Please leave at the All Saints Parish Office at St Marys, Stow Hill - marked 'For Malawi'. Financial donations can also be made directly on the website using Just Giving (please use JAbbey-AllSaints-2017 as reference)
