    Liturgy of the Word

    First reading

    Isaiah 7:10 - 14

Once again Yahweh addressed Ahaz, Ask for a sign from Yahweh your God, either to come

from the deepest or from the heights.

But Ahaz answered, I will not ask, I will not put Yahweh to the test. Then Isaiah said, Now you listen, descendants of David. Have you not been satisfied

trying the patience of men that you also try the patience of my God?

Therefore the Lord himself gives you a sign

    Responsorial Psalm

    Psalm 40:7-8, 8-9, 10, 11

    1. Sacrifice & oblation you do not desire, but you have given me an open ear.Burnt offering and sin offering you do not require.

Then I said, Here I come!

    2. Here I come! To do your will is my delight. O God, for your law is within my

heart.3. In the congregation I have proclaimed the good news of salvation. My lips, O

Lord, I do not seal- you know that very well.

    4. I have not merely kept within my heart your saving help, but have spokenabout it- your deliverance and your faithfulness; I have made no secret of

your truth and your kindness in the great congregation.

    Second reading

    Luke 1:26 - 28

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth. He was sent to a young virgin who was engaged to a man named Joseph of the family of

David, the virgins name was Mary. The angel came to her and said, Rejoice, full of grace the Lord is with you. Mary listened andwas troubled at these words wondering that this greeting could mean. But the angel said Do not fear, Mary, for God has looked kindly on you. You shall conceive

and bear a son and you shall call him Jesus. He will be great and shall rightly be called son ofthe most High. The Lord God will give him the Kingdom of David, his ancestor, he will ruleover the people of Jacob for ever and his reign shall no end.

Then Mary said to the angel, How can this be if I am a virgin? And the angel said to

her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;therefore, the holy child to be born shall be called Son of God. Even your relative Elizabeth isexpecting a son in her age, although she was unable to have a child, and she is now in her

sixth month. With God nothing is impossible. Then Mary said, I am the servant of the Lord, let it be done to me as you have said.

    And the angel left her.

    Profession of Faith

We believe in one God,the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in on Lord, Jesus Christ,

    the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,God from God, Light from Light,

    true God from true God,

begotten not made,of one Being with the Father.

Through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvationHe came down from Heaven (all bow)by the power of the Holy Spirit

    he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,and was made man.For our sake he was crucified under Pontious Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose againin accordance with the Scriptures;he ascended into heaven and is seated

at the right hand of the Father.he will come again in Glory to judgethe living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

With the Father and the SonHe is worshipped and glorified.

He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one Holy, Catholic and

Apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptismfor the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.Amen.

By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ, whohumbled himself to share in our humanity.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to

offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands.

It will become our spiritual drink.

    Blessed be God forever.
