LITTLE ROCK CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOLLittle Rock Central High School is recognized for the role it played in the desegregation of public schools in the United States. Its Visitor Center opened in September 2007 to mark the 50th anniversary of the school’s desegregation, and features many informative exhibits.

HEIFER INTERNATIONALVisitors can learn about Heifer’s mission to end hunger and poverty in the world, as well as its headquarter’s LEEDTM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification and how that ties into Heifer’s commitment to sustainable practices.

MARLSGATE PLANTATIONOriginally the Dortch family farm, this stately Greek Revival structure sits on the shores of Bearskin Lake and is open for group tours and special events.

ESSE PURSE MUSEUMLocated in the SoMa District of Little Rock the brainchild of Anita Davis, a longtime collector of purses, ESSE Purse Museum is proud to exhibit “What’s Inside: A Century of Women and Handbags, 1900-1999.”

OLD STATE HOUSE MUSEUMBuilt in 1836, it is oldest-standing state capitol West of the Mississippi. Arkansas’s first capitol (used until 1911) it’s a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture, and is now an Arkansas history museum.

HISTORIC ARKANSAS MUSEUMStep back in time to Arkansas’s frontier history and tour one of Little Rock’s original neighborhoods. Walk the historic grounds and interact with living history characters to experience how early residents lived.

THE BUTLER CENTERListen to audio recordings from the actual 1957 Little Rock Central High School desegregation crisis events. Learn about the past by participating in a beginner’s genealogy lesson with a local historian and genealogy expert.

WITT STEPHENS JR. CENTRAL ARKANSAS NATURE CENTER This Arkansas Game and Fish Commission facility focuses on the recreational opportunities provided by our state’s fish and wildlife resources, and tells the story of AGFC’s role in restoring and maintaining them.

MOSAIC TEMPLARS CENTERTour this state-of-the-art museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and celebrating African American history, culture and community in Arkansas from 1870 to the present.

MACARTHUR MUSEUMThe MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History was created to interpret our state’s military heritage from its territorial period to the present.

THE OLD MILLThe Old Mill is famous for being in the opening scene in the movie, “Gone With The Wind,” made in 1939. (It is believed to be the only remaining structure from the film.)

ARKANSAS ARTS CENTERThis dynamic center features an art museum with a world-class international collection, a professional theatre company that presents children’s literary works for family audiences, art classes and a variety of education programs for the public.
