Session Outline• Re-cap on the story of Little Red Riding Hood and how the wolf may have left animals tracks in the mud to help the woodcutter catch him.

• Teach the children about matching shapes and sizes to identify simple animal tracks.

• Preparation: Make some simple animal tracks in your outdoor area beforehand using the animal track templates & flour. Flour will not harm your environment.

• Can the children find and identify any of the tracks using the Animal Tracks ID sheet.

Differentiation: HA- Offer a higher degree of independence.LA- Prompts and help with ID.Extension: Can they follow the footprints. Where do you think they lead? What could the species be doing? Can you investigate making your own tracks using different items, e.g. footprints, sticks, cars etc. They could also make their own tracks using footprint templates & flour.
