Board

Presentations: Dr. Banks, Interim Superintendent of Schools recognized all the retirees. Mr. Daleo

and Mr. Bellone presented plaques to all retirees and clocks for retirees with 25 or

more years of service.

Board Work

Session:

Dr. Banks stated the following:

Policy and Regulation #5337, Service Animals is being submitted for the 2nd reading and

adoption at tonight’s meeting.

A proposal was submitted from Ray Angellini Inc. for installation of a new solar monitoring

system in the George J. Mitchell School. The system is no longer working at this time.

Information was given to the board members regarding the purchase of a new truck for the

maintenance department to replace a truck that was sold on Gov.Deals and a truck that in no

longer in service. The purchase of the truck will be on the agenda for approval.

G. Frasca and M. Maleski signed up to review/sign bills for June 30th and July 27th

respectively.

Superintendent’s

Report:

Dr. Maryann Banks, Interim Superintendent of Schools

A reminder that the early dismissal days are Tuesday, June 16th through June 19th.

The promotion ceremonies will be held on June 18th.

The extended school year program will begin on Monday, July 6th through August 6th from

8am - 12pm. The district will have a breakfast and lunch program sponsored through the New

Jersey Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Banks thanked the board for giving her the opportunity to serve the Little Egg Harbor

School district. She stated that it has been a very rewarding experience and she enjoyed

working with the board and everyone in the school district.

Dr. Banks extended her congratulations and best wishes to Ms. McCooley as she assumes her

duties on July 1 as the new superintendent.

(c) 3, that as of April 30, 2015, no major budgetary line item account has obligations and

payments (contractual orders) which in total exceed the amount appropriated by the Little Egg

Harbor Board of Education pursuant to N.J.S.A 18A:22-8.1 and N.J.S.A. 18A:22-8.2, and no

Mrs. Joanne Tindall, Evening Custodian, GJM, is requesting a medical leave of

absence beginning April 15, 2015 through on or about July 3, 2015. Mrs. Tindall will

To accept a grant from the Count Basie Theatre Education Outreach Program subsidizing

the cost of Ocean County students to attend their programs during the 2015-2016 school year.

The Theatre will provide admission to three (3) performances as well as transportation costs to

Bus Safety Drills: LITTLE EGG HARBOR SCHOOL DISTRICT TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

Each year by law we are required to conduct two bus evacuations for each bus, one in the fall

and one in the spring. Our spring bus evacuations were started on Monday April 13, 2015 and

were completed Tuesday May 12, 2015. Each day we evacuated two to three (2 to 3) buses

out the front door in the AM when the students arrived at school. The schools included were

the Frog Pond Elementary, George J. Mitchell Elementary and Robert C. Wood, Sr. Early

Childhood Center. Bus evacuations went very well and all students were very attentive and

cooperative. Below you will find the date, bus numbers, driver’s names and time it took for

students to disembark out the front door. All evacuations were supervised by Doris

McCarrick, Transportation Liaison.

Board Forum:

G. Frasca, M. Maleski, A. Daleo and J. Bellone thanked Dr. Banks for bringing the board

together and moving the district forward.

M. Maleski, A. Daleo and J. Bellone gave best wishes to all the retiring staff.

A. Daleo wanted to give a big thank you to the committees that worked together to get the

contracts approved in a timely manner.

Public Comment:

The floor is now open to members of the public. The Board of Education recognizes the value

of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the

public to express themselves. Each statement made by a participant is limited to three minutes

as cited in Policy No. 0167. There is a sign in sheet located on the podium. Please sign in

before you speak.

*Mr. Lawrence & Ms. Stewart – thanked the board negotiations committee for their support in

working together to approve the LEHTEA contract.

*Ms. Stewart, on behalf of the LEHTEA thanked Dr. Banks for being a leader and showing

everyone the way to be professionals in the school district.

*Mr. Sink, Relay for Life Captain – The district was awarded for raising $15,890. The

monies raised will help our neighbors, friends and families who are fighting cancer.

*Spike Johnson, on behalf of Senior Community of Harbor Bay – requesting the use of

facilities. They can no longer give us a proof of insurance and would the school district

accept a waiver. The Board Attorney asked to have the waiver documentation sent to the

board or superintendent’s office and she would review it and respond with an answer.

*Mrs. Rosenberg, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent – Thanked Dr. Banks for

everything that she’s done for our district.
